Winter Wheels & Tires
I’m trying to purchase a set of new wheels with winter tires for my M50 and my normal go to for that, Tire Rack, doesn’t yet have anything available when I enter my vehicle information.
Is there anything special I need to consider, or could I just use the model information from the last generation? The pre-packaged winter wheel/tires from BMW seem priced kind of high for what they are. Would any rim with a 5 x 112 bolt pattern and a 24-28 offset work or is there something else I need to consider? Thank you! |

Discount tire told me they could make it happen. But that was right after I ordered a set of Lexani CSS 15 for the 3 months out of the year that I’ll run all seasons

Stupid follow up question, do those widths apply to any diameter or is that specific to 20"? I'm looking to go with 18" or 19" wheels. Thanks again! |

I could see that being your OTD price installed if you're using original specs of your OEM tires. Maybe look into a smaller tire size so the cost goes down a bit? For a winter setup, I would prioritize a balance between safety for myself and my car over aesthetics and opt for smaller tires and and possibly smaller rims.
For this season, I'm rolling with the Michelin CC2's. I thought my Conti OEM All Seasons would be ok for one winter season but I was NOT impressed with the traction on my driveway and have extended winter trips coming up fast. We've been getting more snow on the East coast than normal. Next year I'll probably look into a dedicated winter tire/wheel set and go with a square set up for ease. The options for the 285 sizes especially now are really thin. I looked around other parts of this site and found tiresize.com helpful. |

I put winter blizzacks lm005 on the stock staggered 20" ugly wheels. Then ordered a set of ace aff06 staggered 20" wheels and put the stock tires on them. Element wheels made it easy. https://www.elementwheels.com/?gad_s...xoCVqgQAvD_BwE
https://www.acealloywheel.com/6-SPLI...GN_1_1095.html $1241.86 for the 4 wheels shipped to my house. They were having 50% off sale. Last edited by crackerjack15; 02-15-2025 at 03:46 PM.. |

That form says "customer specified offset". I didn't pick those offsets. Lol. The wheel manufacturer only offers a couple offsets to pick from and the others are way off. Those are the same offsets for the last gen m40i. Another person on here has the same offsets on their m50 and the wheels look fine. 4mm is like nothing. .157 of an inch.
