Renault 5 Turbo 3E

A lot of you are probably not very familiar with the brand Renault, but they are probably the manufacturer that made the most extreme hot hatches in history. (Mégane Turbo RS 275 Trophy-R and Clio V6 to name a few...)

And look at what they've made now (yes this thing goes into production!), and it's an EV:
The Renault 5 Turbo 3E

This car is absolutely bonkers

They're gonna make 1980 of them, and I'm sure it's gonna be a huge future classic like some of the extreme homologation hot hatches of the 80's (R5 turbo, RS200 etc)
Nice to see that there are still manufacturers that make completely silly cars

540Hp on only the rear wheels in a tiny EV that weighs 1450kg (3200lbs), is crazy wide and has 4800Nm (3540lb-ft) of torque! Not to speak of a ralley/drift style handbrake sticking up next to the steering wheel
(yes I know, starting price is the same as a base 911)

Honestly.... I think it's stupid. Making it look like it isn't an EV, with scoops and stuff like the old rally cars is dumb.

I'm sure collectors will snap them all up and most of them won't be driven ever except for a few YouTube videos.

It's not a turbo though. I hate to nitpick but Porsche did the same thing with the Taycan. It's turbo charged or its not.

Give it to me and EVs will fake turbo spooling sounds and power delivery like they do with shifting gears and engine sounds.

that Hyundai IoniQ 5 N already does that
Most reviewers liked that I believe.
I mean...if you have to make an EV (and/or buy an EV as a customer because it's lease and your employer demands that...that is more and more common practice here in Europe)....then why not?

That's so weird to me that companies in Europe give you a car.

In the end it's part of your paycheck, albeit on very attractive terms. (you get a tax bill, but in that too, EV's are also very very attractive)
For most jobs/people it's an incentive to apply for a job there. You need a car for your work, and you can use that car for free privately (fuel is paid for too)
The use of that car is seen by the tax department as a form of pay and therefore taxable. The amount of CO2 the car emits determins greatly how high that tax is. EV's used to be tax free, but not anymore, too many people are driving them, so the government looses too much money

Regarding EV's (in my country at least): when new, 99% is bought through corporate lease.
