Leftover 2024 X3 or 2025 X3?
I’m looking for advice on whether I should buy a leftover 2024 X3 or a new 2025 X3
Given tariffs, possible inflation, etc - I’m thinking that I should look into a leftover - I’m assuming it will be less expensive and since not much has changed in 2025, I won’t miss out on any major new features. Another option would be a 2024 CPO with less than 5k miles but I hate to spend all that money on a used car. Thoughts? Thanks! John |

2025 is a complete redesign - inside and out, so, a lot did change.
I’m not going to advocate one platform over the other, but strongly suggest you take one of each for a test drive. |

My lease on my 2022 M40i ends next week. I’ve got a new M50 on the way. There’s some clear improvements, but there’s also a few areas that are not as good. Ultimately because I got Covid seats with no side bolsters I decided I’d move on from what I thought was my best daily driver ever. This is the first time where I’m kind of bummed out giving up my lease. But I know the M50 even with some cheap plastics and fewer buttons will become my next fav daily. You can’t go wrong, it’s just money differences and marginal subjective preferences….a $5k difference might mean a lot to you, and some people go nuts because of the spartan interior. But I can’t wait for the improved drivetrain, new steering wheel, improved suspension and better seats. I’ll wait for after market carbon fiber bits to improve the interior.

First, a nitpick: my understanding is that CPO cars have at least 6K miles on the odometer.
Moving on to the main part of your question. Re tariffs: if you buy a new 2025 off the lot right now, you won’t have to worry about tariffs. As for which to buy: take both for test drives. Compare the features, especially ones that you find desirable. Take into account substantial changes, such as telematics: iDrive 7 with 4G, vs. iDrive 9 with 5G but fewer physical buttons. Also take into account that the 2025 is a first model year, vs. that the 2024 is the last model year. Most of the bugs were ironed out with the 2024. New bugs are inevitably found in any first model year car. If you buy any X3 between about a 2020 and 2023, make sure that no feature that you want was deleted during COVID. If you want a full-fat M, look for a used or CPO one. I know of one FS at a dealer (unless it’s been sold). I doubt that there are any leftovers, but you never know. I’ll give one solid piece of advice: take a long test drive of any G01 X3 that is equipped with ventilated seats. Many owners find them hard and uncomfortable (I did), plus the side bolsters are not adjustable. This is not applicable to the 2025. Happy shopping!
