Another reason to get MT instead of AT?
Excerpt from REUTERS:
Shiftless crooks clutch over stick.. Wed Jun 20, 1:35 PM ATLANTA (Reuters) - Two U.S. car thieves failed to make their getaway in a car they had just stolen because they couldn't figure out how to use its manual transmission, a witness said on Wednesday. The teenagers armed with a gun approached a man outside a pizza restaurant in Marietta, Georgia, late on Monday. They stole his wallet and the keys to his Honda Accord, got into the car but couldn't make it start because it had stick shift, according to John Williamson, 18, a restaurant employee. "The kid was just sitting in the car trying to start it but he had no idea what to do. He looked dumbfounded. The only thing he had going was the radio," said Williamson who witnessed the scene. While the thief was trying to start the car, restaurant employees called the police who arrived and caught the teenagers as they tried to escape into nearby woods. Unlike many parts of the world, the majority of cars in the United States are automatic and many drivers are unused to driving "stick shift" vehicles, in which a clutch pedal must be depressed to change gear.

lol ,
I had a big cam in the TA, it definitely made me more relaxed about people stealing it. Unless you were very good with a manual and/or had driven a cammed car before it would be tough to make a quick getaway. |

God, criminals are dumb.
At least they'll know how to start it for their next big heist. Why can't we go back to hanging "horse" thieves? |

92%+ of new vehicle sales in the US are automatic, can't say I'm surprised
when my dad used to work at the Ritz Cleveland, he noted numerous times that they had a difficult time finding valet candidates that could drive stick - note to self, do not valet a MT car......

Yes, until you get to Europe and find out more than 95% of cars are in MT. That's the part of "3rd world" most people loved to vacation in...

Another reason to carry a gun.
Stupid punks. Its a really bad idea to carjack in Georgia (and many other US states). People in Georgia carry guns, and these guys could have easily been killed. They should save their escapades for places like Washington DC, New Jersey, Massuachusetts, California, and Canada where people are defenseless.
Lets just say that if these guys approached me with a gun (in a life threatening manner) the last thing they would be worrying about is how to drive a stick shift. |
