If Duramax, beast of a truck.

get it, you'll be shocked. Then chip and exhaust it, you'll be really shocked.

I don't think anything means less than an award from Motor Trend...

Not sure what you mean by this, but the last thing I would base my next vehicle choice on would be what Motor Trend crowns as "Car/ Truck of the Year".

Awards for HD trucks given by MT:

2003: Dodge Ram HD
2010: Dodge Ram HD
2011: Chevrolet Silverado HD

I don't see how you don't see humor in it.

I don't base my decisions on that rag either. However, it was funny that you said what you said, seeing as how you have a competitor's HD as your own car. Whether or not that was your motivation, I don't know and won't care to assume, but it was funny none the less.

True, true. But I was ragging on Motor Trend in general, not on Chevrolet. Although I wouldn't buy an HD truck from Chevy (my father-in-law has one and has had a lot of problems with it), it certainly wouldn't mind swapping the Allison transmission and bolting it onto my Cummins!

MT and their reviews may not align with most here... or any enthusiast's view. but if you just take it with a grain of salt, its probably the view that most buyers are viewing the car/truck from. have no idea(s) about trucks since i have never owned one or is going to anytime soon... thought it might be nice to know it got some kind of recognition whether it means something or not...

guess true winner is the Ram????

I dont know if that truck is available w the duramax, shame if it isnt. If it is, you can get around 20mpg if you keep your foot out of it. Pretty damn good for a truck of that weight.

That's odd. I was reading an article online a few days back and it said that the 2011 truck of the year was the Ford F-150.

Here are some links:
http://money.cnn.com/2011/12/12/auto...f150/index.htm

http://www.foxnews.com/leisure/2011/...nd-truck-year/

http://usnews.rankingsandreviews.com...k_of_the_Year/

http://www.mlive.com/auto/index.ssf/...r_trend_t.html

I went again online to check and saw that the 2011 MT truck of the year goes to the Chevy Silverado HD.

Agreed, gm makes a nice truck, (the z71 has the stance of an el camino), but, I prefer Ford these days, that wasn't always the case.

OP, enjoy your new truck! GM offers some incredible deals.

Edit: your hd has respectable altitude, i had to step down into my buddies 1500 z71

What are you planning on towing, and how often?

1/2 ton trucks can do a lot these days, and they are easier to live with as a DD

Check out the F-150 ecoboost, unless you need to go big, then Diesel it is.
