For sale thread's "feelers" "best price" etc and no pics....huh.??
This is the only forum where I have seen this.
Why not just post a price? IMO most people just want to see a price. Why post a for sale ad if you're not sure if you want to sell something? I never understood "feeler's". This isn't Ebay. Also "best offer" isn't too cool either. Mandatory pictures? Why not post pictures of the part you're selling too. We are at an age where everyone has camera on their phone, and if not someone does that you know. Just saying. Does this bother anyone else? Let's hear both sides of the argument. Disclaimer: This isn't a personal attack on anyone. And yes I do like e90Post. Disclaimer: I really do like this site

Annoying or not, it's a smart trading strategy to not be the first one to give a number. There is no exact value or MSRP on a used item, so if I was selling it, why wouldn't I wait for a buyer to give me a price and work from there?
If it's my item and I'm the seller, I am in the cat bird seat and have all of the leverage over a buyer who wants the item (and even if I need to get rid of an item quickly, I do not let them know this). My item, my rules. What if the buyer is willing to pay $100.00 for an item, and I open up with a $75.00 price? I'll let the buyer make the market for me, and negotiate based on their number. An item is worth what a buyer will pay for it, and unless you need to get rid of an item quickly, why would you be the first to make a move when you don't have to?

in the pawn business, when a customer walks in, i always ask how much they are looking to get for an item. the OWNER of the item decides the price, and i negotiate from that spot.
it is not the sellers job to appraise and make a first offer on an item. |

Best offers kind of welcomes low ballers. I mean if I see a used FMIC should I just offer a $100.00? You would laugh at me haha. How about the seller does something like $600.00 OBO? Or $600.00 firm? At least it lets the potential buyer know what you expect for offers. That's what Ebay is for, for bidding wars etc..
As for "feelers" I've had multiple friends of mine get screwed from "feeler" for sale ads. Thinking they had bought something and then only to have the "feeler" seller back out of the deal because he wanted to keep it, when in reality, the sold the item for a higher price or kept it for whatever reason, wasting everyone's time. Shouldn't you know as a seller if you want to sell something? Or if someone wants to buy your $50.00 part for $500.00 it's not a feeler anymore it's a for sale ad lol. Not everyone owns a camera...but come on, you must know someone with at least a camera on their phone? Skype? Or something. Selling stuff on the internet can be shady, so why not just have everyone be as up front about what their selling as much as possible. There should be strict guidelines and clarity with this stuff. No one wants to be screwed or taken.

When someone just says "best offer" idk where to start an offer. But if someone says $500 OBO for example i know i can probably offer $450 without looking like a dick.
I also notice that the venders always have "pm for pricing". Why? why cant they just post the various prices. Are the prices different for different people? if not then i dont see why they cant just post the price |

Because they have deals with distributors stating they can not advertise prices below a certain price point. However, they are more than welcome to sell their products for whatever they want.

I usually dont even waste my time on an item if there is no price or pictures.
This should be mandatory or the thread should be deleted. If you want to sell an item, make it easy for the buyer by answering as many questions as you can in your OP.

It's the way it is, why do you care so much...
Bid low, and tell him he didn't list a price. so he can give you a counter then work from there simple

Yeah. While I understand while people do certain things like not listen details (such as sales price), it gets really annoying sometimes.
