Anybody ever use USAA rewards points?

I have over 75K rewards points.
Anybody ever actually use them to shop from their site? I've looked around but not really anything I'm interested in...not even a cruise.

And now curious if anyone is willing to trade mods for points

I don't think I earn points - I just have a debit card.

I traded 20k points in for Visa gift cards. Essentially cash back. The process was very easy, selected what I wanted from the site, and it was mailed to me in a few days.

If you cant figure out something you want from the site just get the gift cards and go shopping anywhere, or put it in the bank (or back on your balance if you still have one)

edit: I just checked the site and I couldn't find the visa gift cards anymore. there is a section for cash back to your account though. rate is 100:1. your points will get you $750 the cash back is a better rate than any gift card on the site.

I didn't earn points for years. I just happened to find out through a friend that you have to ask USAA to set you up with the rewards points.

Damn. I'll call them tomorrow then. I've been with USAA since 07!

Don't waste the time - USAA (along with most major banks and credit unions) ended their debit reward system in 2011, just FYI, thanks to Durbin Amendment of the Dodd-Frank Act.

USAA Bank ends debit card rewards to preserve free checking and other member-valued benefits.

A new federal law will significantly reduce the revenue banks receive from merchants when consumers pay with a debit card. USAA Bank has always returned the majority of this revenue to its members in the form of benefits, such as free checking, ATM fee refunds and debit rewards.

As a result of the law, USAA Bank will end its debit card rewards program Sept. 1. Unlike other banks responding to the new law, USAA Bank is not adding fees or eliminating the benefits that members value most, including free checking and ATM fee refunds.

Thanks - I forgot I talked to them this morning and forgot again to ask about the points. But this saves me time from having to call them again

If you use the Credit option when swiping your Debit card you'll still earn points.

Nope. You may have been grandfathered in due to some clause; however, for most (should be all, according to USAA), all debit rewards have ceased.

http://www.mybanktracker.com/news/20...wards-program/

"Currently, the USAA debit card rewards program will offer one point for every $2 spent when credit is selected as the payment option."

That was 2011, in the report speaking about USAA's announcement to discontinue it. As of now, debit cards issued by USAA do not earn rewards, regardless of what interchange network you select (debit PIN or Visa).
