Triathletes?
Hey guys
Just wondering if there were any triathletes out there. I've come to love triathlons in the last 3 years. Lots of time, skill, and training. Keeps me healthy. I've done 3 or 4 sprints and 3 Olympics. I just completed my first Half Ironman in Kona, Hawaii in June. I'm still stoked about completing it. Just curious who else lives the tri-life. |

Oh and what kinda of bike do you have.
I ride a Litespeed Archon C1 aero road bike. Didn't want to jump into a full Tri/TT bike because there are a lot of hills where I live, so I got the best of both worlds. Here's a pic of my bike, race day at the Hawaii Ironman 70.3 |

Haven't done one in a few years but have done two full Ironman distance and (3) 1/2 Ironman's. Also many shorter distance events like Alcatraz twice, Olympic 5-6 times, sprints, etc.
Now not so much.

IM Canada in Penticton, BC in 1996 and IM Lake Placid in 2000. A long time ago. Back then these were the two options in North America, you did these or had to go to Hawaii.
Mostly just run and lift weights now, but with some biking.

About 20 sprints, five Olympic and two Half IM's. I only ride my road bike. One of the half IMs was called Mountain Madness and included a 7 mile climb up Fort Mountain in North Georgia. Four miles of the last six were climbing. Yes, my legs were shot as I had not trained for that amount of climbing. To make it worse, there wasn't a flat section on the run.
Supposed to do a sprint this Sunday but might be bailing as some other plans have come up. Might still make it though. |

I'm doing my first tri in September (sprint: 525m/20km/5k), . For the last year I've been doing light weights & cycling. I added swimming about a month ago. You have to practice everything, but right now the running is what's worrying me.

What's your running pace? There are good programs on the web to improve it in a couple of months. I don't do triathlons (yet) I am a Marathons runner.
