I don't care if the 918 is literally twice as fast, I want the P1.

I think this is the main reason Clarkson got fired from Top Gear! He realized that the 918 was going to be faster around their track and decided he didn't want to change his name to Jennifer!

I'd still take the P1 over the 918 and really don't care about how either performs on a track. I wouldn't have the balls to track my $1M supercar anyway.

I'll take the 918 every day of the week.

I'd take a 959 or an F40 over either. If I had that kind of scrilla I'd probably just find a way to fund a Macca F1 instead.

F40 or 959 sure but you couldn't even get close to a Mclaren F1 for 918/P1 money. Last one auctioned for $10 million and Rowan Atkinson's twice wrecked, 41,000 mile F1 just hit the market for £8 million (nearly $12 million USD). That would be like saying "Well I was really thinking about this used 2013 Civic but I can probably just find a way to buy a 2015 M5"

Both of those cars ARE on my list. If only the M5 had a wheel cap option and drum brakes!

I'd actually guess most of the folks buying a P1 or 918 could swing the difference to an F1, or at least are a lot more likely to cover a 10x spread than say, a typical M5 buyer. Or me.

You're probably right that quite a few 918/P1 owners have enough money to buy a Mclaren F1, but I don't think they would choose the F1 over the 918 or P1... They would just buy all three

I clearly need better friends.

I did see Cuban rolling around in his F1 a few months ago.

Not to start a argument or anything, I'm very curious why you would pick a 959 and F40 over a P1 or 918?

I personally love the F40 and would definitely get one if I have the funds. Shit, I'd get a 250 GTO if I had the money as well. They just seem more like novelty items now.

It's not like we're talking about reality. But if I wanted a car that would absolutely appreciate, I'd start with one of those older, simpler, more involved cars. Even a Daytona would be preferable to my tastes. The new hybrid things don't do much for me, but then I'm so far outside of their target audience I don't even know where the theater is.

I know what you mean. Sometimes I wonder if I actually get to drive them back to back, which one I would actually like more. In like 25-30 years people will look back at the hybrid hyper cars of today and say "oh I miss those involved, simple cars."

I've had my 335i for 8 years and had a Evo 9 before that, been driving stick for the last 9 years and I love it, but given the choice I think I'd go with the newer hybrid hyper cars.

To be honest, the most fun I've had was driving these things. Sequential gear box with a clutch. I fkn loved it!
