Kind of hoping it's the Volvo, for a change from his current Allroad if nothing else...
Hmm. You might want to consider that Volvo essentially make the best damn seats in the business. I think that's something your dad might appreciate

I personally think it looks great.

And navigation/central display integrated nicely in the dash, what a crazy idea, no afterthought "glued on" iPad look. One can only hope German interior designers have seen it and learned from it.

It's not so much the seat as the ride height. Maybe not ride height in the traditional definition, but literally the height the seat is from the ground. He had an XC60 that we sold and got the Macan but it was too high up for him so it was gone after 6 months. He's like Goldielocks with the bad hip and knee, this one is too tall, this one is too low, this one is just right.

Love the car, really do. If I am doing anything more than an hour behind the wheel I leave the M235 at his house and take the Allroad. One thing to keep in mind, if you are considering the red you MUST see it in person first. Looks nothing like the photos. My dealer was kind enough to find a local woman he sold one to, and she left it outside one day so we could go check it out. Very orange. If that's your thing great, but would be horrible to have a surprise like that. We ended up getting the dark blue and the car is gorgeous. I don't even mean gorgeous for a wagon. It's a legitimately nice looking vehicle.

Yeah the dark blue would be my first color choice anyway. Which trim level did you end up with? I want to make sure it has B&O sound and a reverse camera. I'll be tapping the used market so I'll shoot for a prestige.

I like the restrained styling. It's consistent with brand identity. I imagine the driving experience will also be consistent with brand identity: stoic.

We did premium plus, blue, sport package, black leather, wood inlays and at the time you could do B&O a la cart. Not sure if you still can. B&O is mandatory in my opinion sounds great. Did not get reverse camera. Next time we are getting all the cameras, safety assist, etc. for a full "old guy package" but for me I wouldn't care one way or the other. Think the camera is an easy retrofit at least based on what I have read - so I wouldn't pay $3K for a tech package or anything if that's the only thing you care about.

As long as there are competing products from other manufacturers, at similar prices, and especially for expensive purchases, I would prefer to buy from companies not owned by the Chinese.

That's your choice, but politics aside I think if we just talk about the quality of the product, it's tough to argue that the huge cash infusion has been a tremendous benefit to Volvo. Case in point is current XC90 versus previous model. There is no way Volvo could have spent $11Bn to bring that car to market, just no way.

However, I will point out in today's world you'll have a very difficult time buying literally anything that doesn't have something in it that was made in China. BMW, if you looked through the BOM, would have countless number of components or sub components that come from Chinese suppliers.

hehe, you do know that wagons are Extremely popular in Europe? The Volvo V70 is the most sold car in Sweden and people would probably go full ape sh*t if they decided to not release the new S90 as a wagon.

In Europe of course, but I unfortunately don't live there anymore. I had the pleasure of renting a 530d F11 and absolutely adored that car! Such a shame it's not offered here.

Wagons are unfortunately very rare now in the US

Walking into the Audi dealer in Stockholm was one of the more bizarre car experiences I have had. Literally every single car on the showroom floor was a wagon, maybe a dozen in total. Def much different attitude there.

Oh wow, what's the Polestar going to have 500 horses to give an E63 wagon a run for its money? The one they announced already has north of 400 hp.

Look at the D-pillar of both of those cars. I wish they went with a boxier rear like to Polestar - it looks so nice. The rear of the actual car is too "slopey". Boo...
