I like power. Period. I'm going to go drive a bunch of cars in the Spring & see if anything gets me hot, but right now I am putting the 09+ V & ND
I disagree on the head issue.... its actually a pretty big deal. I've seen several sets of heads here locally and all but 1 set failed the wiggle test but even it seemed like the guide would wear out. Scary stuff. Don't let anyone tell you its overplayed because imo, every z06 will drop a valve. Its just a question of when.

I agree that the V probably would have been choice for me ride wise. Problem was, the V just wasn't as nimble as I would have liked. I appreciated what the corvette was capable of power and handling wise but I just felt like I was more "at home" in the M3.

When I mean braking, I mean the parts used. The z06 uses what I feel is a Brembo knockoff made by PFC (I believe that was the name). I prefer the caliper used on the ctsv as doing pads was much easier. Tire size is what stops the car anyways...

I hope you find what you're looking for and I wish you the best. BMW's are a rewarding car and at least my crew here locally is like a family. Everyone is polite, enthusiastic, and humble. Much unlike the corvette group I met.

Good luck in your search.

I stopped reading there. Anyway, please PM me if you wish to talk more about it. I'd like to keep my thread on topic.

Just like a crotch rocket is one-dimensional. It's hilarious that you would even argue this point when you want to get rid of it because you don't drive it.

And I don't know what you're comparing it to, but I, along with most others, would call the Corvette FAR from a GREAT touring car. Even the new one isn't.
I enjoy driving it even when not hammering the go pedal. different strokes for different folks.

Hilarious? It would be if I were thinking of selling because of your points, but that could not be more wrong. I love driving the car.

This considering the 918 Generation.

Off the top of my head, the S has a larger engine, more power, slightly different exhaust, better brakes, more standard features (sound system, premium trim, (seats?)).

I want to say the S has forged pistons...but I'm not sure.

too add to this, i think the only people that buy the base are people that did not test drive the S or above.

at first drive, i was fine with the base and was about to buy it but then we thought it would be fun just to try the S... yea, no... we bought the S. haha

good thing it was before the gts was available.

How about an S2000 w/ Turbo Kit?

- Built Well ( great shifter / revs free / reliable even with boost )
- Makes Power
- Balanced 50/50 RWD
- Good brakes

Pretty good car and very capable without breaking the bank.

Or at the opposite end of the spectrum the Pontiac G8 Which is just a rebadged Holden so you can swap bumpers / hood etc and look like this :

They sell a whole kit with OEM parts, Talk about LS powered sleeper with
a nicer interior than the newer SS... + that sound

Not sure if either of these would be cheaper though then keeping your vette.

If I can find one to test drive, I certainly will.

I wonder how much my options would broaden if I leased a new car. I wouldn't want to put thousands down, though.

Ok - on the Aston but more importantly on other "good buys" you can find on Maserati and the like. They often have a HUGE service due right around 30k if memory serves. So you might end up spending half of what you paid on a "bargain car" for the service. Just an FYI.

How's the supra not on here? Lol I've been debating this tread for months untill I bought my coupe. Have to say the c6 z06 was darn close to my decision. But still very satisfied with my E92.
My list
1.e92/90 M
2.C6z06
3.Supra 6sp
4.996 turbo
Very close with the z06 but m3 still tops it can't explain the feeling pure nostalgic

You want to buy one of them for you to drive and you want to buy one of them for your wife to drive.

Get an S and make sure it has the sport chrono option.

While shopping, use this site to enter the VIN to see which options are present on the used vehicles as well as their MSRP.

http://www.vindecoderz.com

Comes in handy. Just saw two used Macans. One of them was $49.9k and the other was $55.9k. The first one had an MSRP of $54k while the second one had an MSRP of $72k and they had similar mileage. The second one was a much better deal.
