Exceeding Towing limit on X3 4.0
Hey,
I've got a 2020 X3 4.0. Amazing vehicle with ZERO problems for over 4 years, but here's my dilemma: This vehicle has a 4400 lb. listed tow limit. I have the tow package and have been towing a 18 foot Ranger with 150 HP on a single axle trailer with ease. I am in the market for a slightly bigger boat and motor with a twin axle trailer which with boat, motor trailer, gas and batteries will be a bit under 5000 lbs. I am not planning on towing cross country, but 50-75 miles at a time. Anyone legitimately know if there is a risk of damage to suspension, unibody. The engine easily handles this (382 HP), but does the unibody? |

Pardon me, which X3 has a 4 litre engine?
No, nothing will be damaged, my X3 is rated for 2300 kg (5070 lb), basic brakes, xdrive. Remember, the current weight of your car as is, must be equal or higher to what you tow. You basically need to create 2300kg of car + max 2300 kg of trailer (incl load). |
