I believe USA plant will produce G45 first, but Rosslyn SA is defo where most UK G01's came from recently apart from hybrid and BEV. Rosslyn SA will also produce UK bound G45's, including the Hybrid, which will cease production in USA. China was the origin of the G01 based BEV. In terms of build quality and QA, the USA made X3's have been pretty hit and miss. Wish BMW would move production to Germany. Last edited by avi66; 08-18-2024 at 06:21 AM.. |

Hate to hear that - we've got a 2021 m40i and 2024 x3mc and couldn't be happier w/ USA builds.

While my SA build 2020 X3 was perfect in any aspect, my wifes SA build 2024 X3 LCI had various minor flaws. |

I think it’s just poor BMW QC period. Maybe a reflection of cost cutting in terms of lowering the bar a car must reach to pass QC. A recent poster has issues with his M50 body panel alignment, and it appears other G45’s at the dealership also exhibited similar issues when it was returned for assessment. https://g45.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=2141953 It’s a lottery but my personal experience of German assembled models I’ve had, compared to US assembled models I had. The later exhibited more QC related issues. Last edited by avi66; 11-01-2024 at 11:54 AM.. |

I don't know where the UK 20i and 20d will be made, but some UK models will be assembled in South Africa, as in the OP’s hybrid 30e order. https://www.bmwblog.com/2024/10/05/2...-south-africa/ “It’s barely been a month since BMW ended production of the X3 “G01” in South Africa. On October 1, its successor, the “G45”, hit the assembly line. Plant Rosslyn will be the only factory in the world to produce the plug-in hybrid model, the X3 30e xDrive. The first vehicle to roll off the assembly line was built for an export market, specifically a right-hand-drive country.” Last edited by avi66; 11-01-2024 at 08:04 AM.. |
