2025 X3 Mirrortap / radar detector
Picked up my new X3 M50 and transferred my Uniden radar detector from my 2024 M340i. I couldn’t find any instructions for the G45, but luckily the plastic surround housing is the same as the iX and XM. I followed the steps from this posting and it works great:
https://g07.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=2059299 Note: The mirror trim housing is a very fragile, I broke off multiple snap pieces taking off the trim. I will most likely have to replace the primary top piece. Seems more brittle than prior BMWs, almost like they want the trim to break to detect tamper. Thanks for the post. Mines ordered hopefully it comes soon. I currently have mine suction cupped on... Looks terrible. I was on the fence about going this route. In my past two cars I've always done the built in escort/beltronics as I hate it hanging. After going back and forth with my installer we decided to do the latter.
Are you doing any laser protection? I did ALPs, 4 heads in the front (2 regular/2 TX) and 3 in the rear. 1TX/2 regular. |

Yes. When I walk up to the car the radar detector powers on. When I power off the car the detector stays on for a few minutes then it turns off.
