How are combating the market with your 401k?

it's very painful checking my 401k everyday because it just keeps going down. i'm down -16% since the beginning of the year. 60% bonds 40% stocks. i just went down $500 since yesterday.

what are you guys doing with it? some people i know are thinking of even cashing out.

$500???

That's nothing to worry about, just stay the course. It will be worth it in 30 years.

Stay with it because as your company deducts from your paycheck and purchases the 401k shares, you are buying them at a much lower share cost than last year. Give it a couple of years and it will come back since you are getting your shares at a good deal now.

I lost a few k yesterday, but I'm not sweating it.

Transfered all mine to bond index (yielding about 6%) and basically money market fund (getting about 4%). That is about the best thing going right now. Once things stabilize, I will switch it back...but I had to stop the bleeding. It was getting bad!

I'm also riding the wave
$500 per day is alot of money guys...nothing to laugh about , esply when is hard earned cash

all that company match and the profit sharing is going down the drain for me

but think about it....You're also buying in shares at a very low price

LOL yeah. i've lost most of my contributions and all of my company match. only a little bit ahead of where i started at the beginning of the year which is primarily what i transferred over from my previous 401k.
