BMW's Z06 Fighter!!
Somebody chopped on the 3series headlights. I believe the lights will have a more aggressive slant, like in the first spy shot. Okay fellas, Here me out on this one: BMW has always given the Z4 the shaft. I never felt they focused completely on the car. It must be written in a secret doctrine that the 3series get 110% of their effort above all...nothing wrong with that. Credible sources has said that BMW plans to make up for it and become a class leader with the next gen. I've never read a comparo where a Z4 came in 1st. It has always played second fiddle to the Cayman OR Cayman S. The Z4M is an okay effort but they really arent valued. A 135i will outperform it for $15,000 less. My theory: If they put the E92 motor into the Z4M it will be an ABSOLUTE MONSTER. Click on the following link. http://www.roadandtrack.com/assets/d..._datapanel.pdf Imagine a car 400lb less equipped with BMW's faster shifting DCT tranny. That engine already does wonders for the 3700lb M3. Its 414hp 295lb of torque even looks anemic in comparison to the competition. Tack on some of the efficient dynamics goodies for a few extra mpg's and its all good. I would predict a 3.7 0-60time, 12.0quartermile time. The current Z4M's msrp is 50k. They can bump that to 55k and it would still be a SICK SICK deal. My Plea: BMW, please please please dump that E92 M3 motor into the next Z4M. I am pulling for this car. **Dont let that freak camou fool you. I can see some really sweet character lines from the 2 dozen pics I've analyzed. Your thoughts?!?!?!

how are they going to balance it? no way you could pull off 50/50 weight distribution with a V8 in the front... the V8 is somehow lighter than the I6 but this car looks more front heavy than before.
Cayman wins on its balance, not the power battle |

May be a worthy adversary of Z06, but the z06's tuning potential is huge. I doubt a tuned new M coupe can demolish a tuned z06 for the same amount of money.

Wow, this is a BMW site right!?!?! People are barely interested.
Scotty, the Vette as a really long hood and I think Chevy balances it quite well. Robert, I was talking in regards of stock vs stock.

I am tempted to wait for this car over the 135. However, I would get the TTI6 version, not the M. I simply do not need that much power.
My only real question is do I need the extra 'practicality' of the back seats in the 135vert? If I don't, I could consider the current Z4M, but I like the idea of a folding hard-top, best of both worlds. This coming from a guy that loved his Z3 Coupe. |

This car would indeed be a monster with that V8, but it would be a tight fit. In coupe form even with the n54 it'd be a pretty badass ride and help shed the chick car image the current z4 vert has, especially the 2.5.

yea its a BMW site and honestly a Z06 fighter is not that important, especially in the form of a Z4. the American market has a nice niche with the Z06 and i doubt BMW would even try to compete. not because they cant but what would be the point. hardly anyone shops a vette vs a german car. and even though a Z06 is a steal at its price i would still look elsewhere. i guess im not a vette fan. dont get me wrong, if i had it my way i would have a BMW, Benz, rover, porche and a Z06 all in the garage but im just not that into them.

i've been following the new 2010 z4 for awhile now. i think it has mad potential. i hope that it comes out lighter than the 135. the car has grown a bit and plus a hardtop too, so who knows...i'm sure it won't have the light weight feel of a s2k though =/ but still, i think its gonna look awesome.
any idea on pricing of the TTI6? i'm guessing its gonna be 44k starting with softtop, and add another 3-4k for hardtop. i'm really surprised there isn't much hype for this car. |

Yeah but the Vette has the transmission mounted in the rear of the car to spread the weight out. Not that BMW couldn't do the same, but it would be an entirely new chassis to handle it. |

I think because the Z4's rep has been so tarnished over the past years. I think BMW is ready to hit this one out of the park. Hmm...now I did not know that. You learn something everyday

Nothing new but def more expensive and complicated than it needs to be for the sake of performance especially when the Corvette stays at a rather low price. When the C6 ZO6 came out it was(and may still be?) the only car for under a hundred grand with a dry sump oil system. The system its self is nothing revolutionary but for a car that price it is something worth noting.

When I was in Germany last month I saw this prototype testing on the Nurburgring. The license plate # is the exact same as in the initial post picture. I tried uploading the pics but keep getting an error.
