The Greatest Car Adverts of All Time
A friend and I were chatting about which car adverts have been most memorable over the years. I humbly present my top five from the UK (I guess some were not shown in the States) - please feel free to make your own suggestions.
5. Peugeot 206 The Sculptor I've got a bunch of Indian mates who live to mod their cars and try to impress girls, so I enjoyed this. 4. Citroen C4 Alive with Technology Now that the Transformers Movie has come and gone, this is still way cooler. 3. Golf GTI Singing in the Rain I am fortunate enough to have performed with one of the three guys that were Gene Kelly in this awesome advert. 2. BMW Z4 See How it Feels This is the advert that made me want a BMW, and then the 1er came along. I watched this on the big screen last year - I can't even remember what film I saw afterwards, this blew me away. Perhaps it won't have the same effect on a computer but it honestly sent shivers down my spine. 1. Honda Accord The Cog I'm sure you've seen this, which famously took 606 takes. Simply incomparable. Honorable mentions: VW Polo's Small: Most of Honda's ads over the last 5 years have been great. Hope you enjoy! |

What the hell? You guys don't have Vorsprung Durch Technik as Audi's tagline in America?
Cracka that terrorist one is very cool - I remember it didn't run for very long here cos I think it was a bit too controversial (plus around the time of the July 7th bombings). MPower the Impossible Dream is also a fave but I think it's appreciated by motorheads (by default, most people on a car discussion board) than regular folk as it is quite nostalgic about Honda's great history. Here's my girlfriend's favourite: |

Jordan Playboy
It's a print ad, by Ned Jordan, from the 1920s for a pretty mediocre auto, but ad agency folks think this was the dawn of 'creative' advertizing (opps, advertising ; -). It's bascially all sizzle, no steak.

No thread about great car commercials can be complete without the greatest pitchman of all - Joe Isuzu.
I love the way he does the slalom run the 2nd time.
