you're better off getting a regular E30 and doing an S52 swap and a bunch of suspension mods.
E30 M3's are just going to keep appreciating, they're already well into the $20k range with low miles and good condition. |

I had the privledge of driving one of these on the ring in the early 90s... This was back when you could rent one, and a ring lap was about 8 bucks or so, well before the euro etc... Aorund 1993. At the time I was driving an E30 touring, which was also an M-sport car. (couldnt get them here)..
That car was ALOT of fun and you realy felt the road in it.... Id love to have one today but they are at a premium for sure. Its a collector car.. Truthfully Id love to have one, but I'd aslo like to have the m-technick version of the E30 touring sedan as well.... |

To put it simply - YES - car is an absolute blast to drive. I keep an eye out to see whats available from time to time. Wish I had the garage space, as I would buy one in a heartbeat. Drive one - you will see.

absolutely not. Its too valuable a car to really drive and enjoy. Its in the category of "investment"... not "car".

They're becoming too much of a collector car to use, but I'll tell you theyyre a HOOT to drive.
My E30 is similar to drive, as I've replaced all suspension bits with M3 parts, besides the further upgraded shocks/springs. So balanced and easy to handle... I can pitch this thing around a corner WAY faster then I should and it comes out in a predictable, controllable oversteer. The rear is fun to kick out and the entire chassis is so light and nimble, you can fully feel each of the 4 wheels beneath you. I would describe it as a 'true drivers car' as its very raw in application. The actual motor in the M3 is not something you'd want to drive around the street. Gutless in lower RPMs, but it screams up top. A true track car that needs the engine to be fully rebuilt every 130k miles, and generally needs work every 40k.

Yes, but value is in the eye of the beholder - I would personally buy one of these cars to enjoy - not to collect dust in my garage. You can still find nice examples at a resonable price to enjoy IMO. Mint examples that are collectable are going to be pricey anyways.
