MAN. Is it me or people are WAYYYYYY too excited for the new 5 series? It is the same thing as the 7 Series and BMW as lost any kind of originality between its model. The 6 will look exactly the same as the 7 and 5, and I guess the 3 will be the same.


Ok, I know tastes are discussable... but every time I see some fanboy being like: OMFG ZER NEW 5 Series... I am like... wtf?

I just think people on this forum are afraid to say what they think and instead say something to make other hardcode BMW fanboy happy. Don't get me wrong, I like BMW, but I wouldn't buy, not even consider, the new BMWs.

Anyways... my 2 cents, I had to say it.

I liked it at first. I guess what I really liked was that it was going back to basics and away from Bangle.

But now I'm not so sure. I've seen it in person and drove it. It's pretty conservative looking. And I'm not sure of the way it feels on the road; it's been softened up quite a bit, imho.

I hate to admit this, but except for a few of the design bits, I actually prefer Bangle's design. At least it had some flair to it. The current 5er is pretty bland.

I'm going to reserve judgment until I see what they do with the M5.

That said, I'm not enamored with much of the current automotive designs of any brand out there. It's all very uninspired. I don't want flashy, but just something with some intelligent, sophisticated sort of lines to them. How about some softer curves and less boxy side views.

Can't make everyone happy. I think it looks classy, which is what it is for.

If you want something outlandish, my first thought would lead to base 5 series.

i guess if youre blind then you could say the 7, 6, and 5 look the same

theyre an automotive brand. youre thinking about it too much

I drove the new 550 and wasn't that excited about it. Probably because I couldn't believe how expensive it was w/ very few options.

I know they aren't the same... but they are VERY Similar.. and I guess you are right, Audi and Benz are doing the same...

That's because the 550i comes standard with pretty much all the options compared to the 535i.

I actually like the new 5 and 7 series. I think however that they will be unable to top the current 6 Series which is IMO the best looking BMW model with the sadly departed E86 Z4MC as a close second.

by the way, it's something you want to get off your chest, not out of your chest. That's what doctors are paid to do.

Maybe I just missed the boat somewhere, but I really don't see why everyone hates Bangle's designs. I think all of the fading models of BMWs look great, and the new ones look a little bland. Hell, I even think the Msport Fiver looks good, mascara headlights and all. What is it that people hate so much about Bangle bimmers?

I'll take a 550i with a m-spoer kit. The stock version does zero for me.

The seats in the m-sport are possible the best looking BMW seats ever!

I don't like the new 5 at all. Its just another German luxo-barge now. At least the E60 had presence....

Styling is always objective but it's very in to hate Chris Bangle's designs. Personally, I adore the E63 6 Series and I like the E9x very much. I don't care much for the E60 and E65, I prefer the new F01 and F10 stylings.
