Good observation. Porsche gear boxes are typically finely synchronized and power shifting isn't recommended. It's probably been beefed up.

the 991 and newer cars have no lift shift on the manuals.

That's probably just because of the background.

I have to wonder if it will still look like a turd (color) in every other setting.

That said, I really like the shape of it, much better than the over-the-top aero of the GT3. I think in general aero is starting to get a bit ridiculous as "street" cars get faster and faster/manufacturers get more desperate...

It was only a matter of time before the king was dethroned. An extra 100 HP will do that. It'll be short lived, though, as soon as they get their hands on the uber-toaster Plaid.

I drove a 991.1 turbo S over the weekend and have to say it definitely blew me away. I’m normally an NA only guy, have had a GT3, two 991S, and a 997 4S, but man that thing was incredible. 992 out of my budget and IMO not worth the cost currently but the 997.2 or 991.1 might be next on my list.

I currently have a DCT M2 CS that I currently plan to keep. Since I can’t get a GT3 or GT4 RS allocation, my next car will likely be either a M4 CSL (assuming I can get an allocation) or 992 Turbo S. Would have to save dollars until late next year for a 992 Turbo S. Don’t know if I want another BMW (M4 CSL). Will have to wait until M4 CSL to be revealed to make final decision. Definitely want a car with power as M2 CS power doesn’t excite me. 992 Turbo S has power but car is very expensive ($230K or so with reasonable options). M4 CSL is definitely cheaper than 992 Turbo S.

Anyone have advice?

You probably just need to wait until M4 CSL is revealed to determine if you are interested. However, bear in mind that even if you want the M4 CSL, you may not get an allocation due to limited quantities. Also, If the 992 Turbo S is too expensive there is always a base 992 Turbo at 570 horsepower.

Get the Turbo S. People think it’s just a straight line monster (which it is), but it is also an extremely good performer on the track. Awesome car.

-sell the m2cs for the 992 turbo.
-buy base model m2 down the line for $40k (300 pounds lighter and nicer sounding motor, and you won't care about power since you have the 992 for that).
