I do give a couple of dollars to the Uber driver assuming the car was clean, they weren't burning incense etc.
As for the Uber fee here in N.O., that's news to me but I never take Uber from the airport. Taking a regular cab to downtown will easily be $50 plus a tip. Ultimately the cab companies here are a very vocal bunch and much like a union and they were strongly opposed to allowing Uber. I suppose this was a concession to the cab drivers/companies...

$25.00 (move decimal point over) $2.50 (multiply by 2) $5.000 = 20% tip. Move the decimal point to the left by 1 spot, divide that in half, and add to the original number for anything less than exceptional service (15%). $25.00 (move decimal point over) $2.50 (halve and add to original $2.50) $3.75 = 15% tip. I have never had an instance where I felt I did not have to tip. It can be tough to determine who made the mistake... the kitchen or the wait staff? I tip delivery drivers about the same if a bit less. I have heard of people not tipping drivers because they took forever, but most of the time I would imagine that is the kitchen/management's fault. |

I do not tip the cabin crew 20% of my airline fare for bringing me food, drinks and snacks on my 14 hour flight to Asia or America. Not my responsibility to know if she was paid right or underpaid when I board a flight and travel abroad. The same goes for business class passengers they do not need to fork out another 10-20% more in their $2000-4000 ticket because they were served foods and drinks on their flight |

I am not anti-tipping as people who wish to tip should tip and should be free to tip but that should not mean that is should be mandatory and that the customers of any or every business establishment should be paying the difference of the underpaid employee by their employer. |

answer me this one
I went to a local nandos. Had to order at the counter, then had to pay in advance and had a tip option. So they bring your food to you, but you go up and get utensils, sauces etc, WTF I tipped just to make sure no one spat in my food, but I CERTAINLY wont go back to that hobo joint |

Remember that customers could be from out of state or even out of country. Each customer can not be expected to know whether or not the the business establishment that they entered pays their employees the minimum wage, a wage under minimum wage or a wage over minimum wage. |

Would be REALLY interesting to know whether the average server made more or less. Or, better yet, was the average receipt (per meal) higher or lower? Where did it work best, where did it not work? Were the ticket per meal numbers the same where business increased as it was where it decreased? Customer satisfaction can be, I suppose, expressed really only in terms of people leaving, on the negative side, or higher repeat or same store sales, on the positive side.
