Mine was stuck at QC for a while but now it's still waiting for carrier assignment. When I called to inquire they are still doing inspections... I wonder if since it's the first few coming off the line they are being OCD... or just holding off until later for the "official release".
I was at my dealer a few days ago to renew the tire/wheel insurance etc and set up September 30th to pick it up judging by what was showing at the time on their end. We will see. I don't really care I just want to know for certain what date I can pick up my car so I can schedule my PPF install. (and also write a large check ) |

I find the "tire repair kit" or a spare somewhere between an absurdity and a last-century anachronism for enough times/use cases to make them quite unacceptable as a complete solution. Imagine nightime on the side of a highway in the middle of nowhere or in an undesireable part of an urban area, in the rain/snow, when more formally attired, etc. I certainly would not want my wife sitting vulnerably in such a situation waiting for a tow truck if I was out of town. If you may be well abled, in good conditions, without an urgent schedule, in a nice area, in clothing you are ok getting soiled, by all means, fix or replace your own tire. For cars not heading to the track, I am staying with run flats, now that they ride and perform so much better than when first offered. The subtleties of non-run flat superiority experienced in normal daily street driving for errands or commuting don't come close to justifying the exposure IMHO.

Sportstick,,, I fully aware your concern! I've been very aware the value of Run Flat tires benefit from my X1 and X3 ownership. It did saved a few nail situations. BUT the ride quality, also noise level still not equivalent to standard tires. So, to choose between tire repair kit or a "REAL" spare.. I choose real spare!!!
Also, in Canada with lots of snow.. we need to switch between Summer/All Seasons tire to Winter tires.... Either swap yourself or carry it from my home to a tire shop, I still need to put those tire around and load it into my trunk.. RunFlat just weight TOOO much (heavy)! |
