As I have said many times here and elsewhere. I have no issue with EV's they might make a lot of sense for a lot of folks, but why does it have to be all or nothing? My diesel Pick Up makes the most sense for me, PHEV's might make the most sense for others. Fuel Cells might be a great option for others too.

It would be a disaster to limit the ability to buy to EV only. I think EV has a purpose. I do 70-100 miles a day the EV so far seems to do me fine. The IX is a nice living room to sit in. Also I do 300 plus miles when doing long weekends with family and with parents/inlaws etc where I have no time or desire for range anxiety where a land cruiser/GLS/X7 will fit the bill on a 2 car household. As will a hydrogen car come the time. I still feel enforcing EV as an only solution is crazy.

We routinely drive to visit my wife's sister in Burlington, about 350km one way and no place to charge. I can drive my diesel pick up there and back on about 3/4 of a tank. No way an EV would work for me. Plus we need the truck for the regular trips to get stuff for our gardens/property/house.

Your ability to choose might be hitting your local home improvement/hardware store. I was watching a video from Mike Glover where he said his local Home Depot has eliminated all gas powered lawn/yard care equipment. No more gas powered weed whackers, chain saws, etc etc. I checked in with my neighbor who is a manager at my local home depot about this. She says for now they're still selling gas powered lawn/yard care equipment but it wouldn't surprise her if corporate stopped selling them at her store.

I bought a Ryobi battery lawn mower about 10 years ago when we lived in Oakville, small lot 40'x120' it worked well but I've had to replace the battery 4 times now, one was warrant but at almost $200 a piece I could've bought a gas mower with a Briggs and Straton and had a lifetime supply of gas and be about $200 ahead of the game by now.

All of my lawn care equipment is gas powered. This news makes it more imperative I stay on top of maintaining all of my equipment. I have a gas powered riding mower, gas powered self propelled push mower, gas powered two stroke weed whacker, and a gas powered snow blower.

I do have an electric power washer but of course that one doesn't use batteries. I have to say the electric power washer has been working out well for me though.

To be honest my Ego has been running problem free other than a bent blade for 5 or so years now and on its original battery.

Not all battery powered lawn equipment isn’t all that bad. But I also don’t have a massive yard

in addition to the interesting article I was shocked to read how car thefts have sky rocketed in Canada and what these stolen cars used for, like drugs trafficking and terrorism amongst other things.

We have an acre of lawn now so I only used the electric lawn mower to do some spots where my riding mower can't go. I see there are a few electric riding mowers on the market now but my John Deere is only 2 years old and I suspect it will last a very long time.

The best electric riding mower was the early 1970's GE Electrak series. We had an E15 (I still have the carcass). Just like EVs today it was twice as expensive as the ICE equivalent and had range issues. But it had the mower deck out front, had a 36VDC "PTO" for various accessories like a welder, chainsaw, weeder, snow blower. It could cut 2.5 acres with a 36" deck. Nothing I've seen recently even comes close.

I can cut my lawn, just under an acre of grass 3 times with a fill up of gas. I can use it to tow my boats around the property as well. Pretty happy with it.
