Official unveiling is today isn’t it?

Also the comparisons with the Macan are absolutely silly. The Macan is smaller than an x1 inside and maybe outside too. It’s a smaller vehicle than the x3. Yes it does many if not most things better from a performance and build quality standpoint but the cost to get into one and the running costs are much MUCH higher.
When you have two good brands doing the same thing (building cars) the one that costs 50% more will be better.

It was unveiled today i am just back from the pre-release,we were like 30 people only to see it in person.

It was white M50i.
So i will share few details - no pics ,they took our phones..anyway.

The car :

Exterior design - it is really nice bulky front ,pretty close to XM fron grills and bumper.
Big front squary bumper with grills similar to the XM.

Actually the grils is almost identical to that picture

Front bonnet - a dent in the middle like M3 - it stands out.
Headlights - a bit more round design compared to the picture above - but the leds are almost the same

But the back is flat similar to XM
M50i have big quad exhaust

Now the strange parts - NO fender arcs not front not in the back.
When you open the rear door its simply part of the rear fender and there is a rubber seal to keep water etc away from inside

Door handles - flat like X1

In general car is longer but lower and you can see it..the rear window is X1 style pretty small rear window compared to the previous model.
Rear spoiler is X1 style - twice longer than G01

The car is wider and its visible - from the side is a bit dull (my opinion but we all know it depends on the color).

Mirrors - new design

Now the interesting part - interior !

HUGE almost the whole cealing (if ordered) is glass,no two parts its a single front to back - tesla style.It looks amazing!
Aaand the good stops here (as previous owner of F25 and G01 and now driving U11 fully loaded).

Doors - lots of plastic!front and back
Dash - WTF have they done - big bulky one and from the most f*cking stupid material - its recycled shit at least the ones we saw if yoy cant change that - maan that shitty.Its kind of knitted fabric and thats not the worst part .

That material covers the whole dashboard and 70% of the doors!

I cannot confirm trim level or if dash can be leather - but if thats the only material - maaan X1 is like an X7 quality compated to a dacia when it comes to dash.

Center console - pretty similar ot new 5 series with a idrive knob and X1 style front space which instead of the X1 trim it has diamond like trim which is illuminated and have the cupholdeers,its like a bigger X1 front space but with actual armrest.

Steering wheel - X1 like
Seats - comfortable but they were with BMW individual leather - comfy ,soft - nothing wow
Rear - good space - comfy seats ,new touchscreen indicator for rear climate or seat heating.

Door handles inside - XM style triangular

Lots of plastic - i am sorry it looks nice on picture probably,but i need to wait to see other trim level if any leather before liking it .

To me the exterior dont meet interior..

Would i trade X1 U11 for it - probably not on first glance - it depends on price list but i feel strange about it.
The X3 main treats would be the suspension ,ride comfort,steering and engines but not the interior

For the massage i guesss like on idrive 8.5 its inside the menu - i didnt get a chance to play with it that long.

The multi-contour are the top seating in the X5/X7 in the US. They offer a multitude of adjustments. Not sure what they are referred to in Europe.

As far as massage goes, are you saying they mentioned that it was available? If so, then they were probably the multi-contour seats that it has.

Okay thanks. That is what I figured but was holding out hope they would have adopted the multi-contour for the G45. We'll see for sure when the pricing guides come out. No massage, no X3. Have to keep the wife happy.

There might be massage - as i mentioned the menu was restricted and we didnt have that much time to play due to so many people wanting to sit inside and have a look inside it.

G01 -> G45 ...exterior - yes (not all of it)

Interior - G01 > G45

But the illuminated grills suits it nice

Temp is touch slider

Thing is, you lost me before you even came to the interior…the XM’s horrible blocky chunkiness was strike one and then with no fender arcs I was out. Sounds like BMW’s version of this

I'm thinking that was either base or some type of option and traditional leather will be available. The G456 was supposed to get the luxury materials and tech from the X5 so hopefully we will see that.

This G45 is still going to sell a whole lot because of the tech advancements, because people mostly lease their BMWs, and because Rory of Autotrader UK likens Mercedes new design language to some sort of fish haha. Nothing is going to be worse than that -- headlight and grill combo.

Audis look great on the in and outside but sounds like in terms of dynamics, comparable BMWs still win hands down.

Not even going to talk about Porsches haha, that's way over my league, present and future.
