Has anyone done a DEXA/DXA scan for body fat measurement? I searched this site and didn't see much discussion. Impedance devices seem too variable and overpredict body fat at the lean end of the spectrum.

I found a place near me where I can self pay with no provider order, which is my preference. Comments on DEXA/DXA scans?
I had a DXA scan done years ago. Be prepared for bad news. It may give you the real number but it showed much higher bodyfat than any other type of analysis. That's ok, but you don't really have anything to compare to so it just felt like I was fatter than I thought I was.

Well, after nearly 2 years, my local gym is open again and I signed up yesterday. IT will be good to do something besides walking with rocks in my hands.

It hurts!!!
I spent 25 minutes on elliptical, then 15 minutes on a mat doing core, and only a single round of curls on a machine. At 55, this is going to be tough!

You never forget to squeeze water out of those rocks (with your hands) after the walk, do you?

I go in today to see just how bad my right shoulder is. Shaving my bald head on the opposite side is becoming a real challenge.

And at least you had fun (riding) getting that disabled. I'm just old/diabetic.

Last night was legs. Did the core work first, then over to the sled. I said I would not compare myself, would not compete with anyone else, it's been 2 years since I did anything. I'm on my 3rd set, and this tiny girl comes over and sets up with a plate more than me on each side, and begins to knock them out.

GIRLS!!!!

I stayed the course, so can still walk this morning!!!!

Here I was, thinking I'm the only one lol. Shaving my bald head (the left side above my ear and slightly behind it)is a two-arm proposition,I use my left arm to hold my right arm behind my head, grasping the razor between 2 fingers to extend my reach as much as I can and,well....I'm sure you feel my pain

Don't let those 100lb females intimidate you like I let them intimidate me,save that for the bigguns' lol

X-rays show I have a hell of a spur that is inpinging on the bursa and tendon.
I've been on Mortin for 3 weeks, no help
Dr. ordered Meloxican for next 3 weeks, and says use as much ice as I can.

If that doesn't work, injection (I'm allergic to needels)

If THAT doesn't work, they can rather easily grind the spur back down to normal levels. BUT, I won't be able to shave my head for 3 months after that. . .

Told me no more gym movements with weight above the should. Have to do decline bench now.

Gym day. Stationary bike, dumbbells and swimming.

I increased weight on the dumbbells and it felt OK.

I’m not sure swimming is doing anything good for my shoulder. The overhead motion includes clicks and soreness. I’ve read about bone spurs and shoulder impingement and it’s conceivable this is what I am dealing with. Not sure I will for a consult but rather find my way through it.

I haven’t weight lifted in years, and the past two months have been a good experience. I want to find a way to keep my cardio up during winter, and get some upper body strength. Could be I stick with my current routine as the new normal - low swim yardage combined with cardio and weights.

Has anyone experienced shoulder impingement or a shoulder bone spur?

Swimming is a nice, sparing exercise, isn't it? If you give up and just limit your motion it should only go worse, I believe.

Here's an easy find, just in case: https://www.coraphysicaltherapy.com/...our-shoulders/.

Look right above. It's a simple series of X-rays to determine. Your description matches mine . . . and I don't wish that on anyone.

2 doses of Meloxicam so far, and pain is a bit reduced. Placebo effect? I walked with rocks yesterday, and despite the Dr.s orders I was lifting to at least shoulder level.

Had a rough week last week. Lot of work travel, poor eating and drinking decisions due to that as well. Picked it back up working out on Friday through the weekend. Hope to dial it back in this week. Made it to the gym bright and early for back and triceps followed by a 2500m row and 3 mile run.

Been doing light "Knees over Toes" workouts for the past 4 weeks or so.

My God, the difference in my ability to jump during spiking for volleyball is astounding. I have more hop and way more stability. I've never hit so hard in my life and I'm quite old (almost 48, 6' 1") to be playing like this. I'm bouncing the ball off the floor now because I'm hitting at such steep angles. I never realized how locked up my hip and lower legs were until doing these workouts.

Started cutting calories friday to tighten up for the beach/pool season which will be here in a month or so. Haven't started any cardio just yet, simply because I hate it. I'm hovering around 205-ish lbs,I'll be happy at 190-195lbs

Back day yesterday. Barbell rows, single grip cable rows, lat pulldowns, 1 arm dumbell rows, and hammerstrength lat pulls. Started at 15 reps, worked up weight down to 8 reps.

42, 6' ~235lbs. We started doing cardio beforehand as well to start our calorie deficit for the summer boat parties.

Protecting that bone spur in shoulder, but still hitting lats on cable machine. Mix in either leg lifts or crunches between sets to maximize work/minimize time

Body isn't liking this. 3 x the low blood sugar alarm has gone off in under 30 minutes, and I'm generally at the gym an hour after dinner :

Then last night I'm fasting (blood sugar in 200s) and go for leg day. Listening VERY CLOSELY for low blood sugar alarm, never comes

Kept everything very light, ESPECIALLY abductor. First soccer game of season is Friday night.

Been a while and got some simple gear for home. Have missed this sore feeling, know you're doing something good for yourself.

Doing a lighter weight dumbbell workout to help with core for cycling primarily.

I've done a pretty solid first 2 weeks back at the gym.
Despite my increased water intake, the urine is still pretty stinky and yellow, lots of metabolites getting washed out.

Figuring out new routines that don't include the shoulder moving above 90 is tough!
