Both great shots. I'd say Ed's bird has it better, though.
Nasty here. Snow and ice and cold and windy. High temp on Tuesday is forecast to be -5F. Brrr.

Hey, I tried to find winter last week without much luck This road would normally be closed by now. On the other hand, I didn't have to worry about getting stuck or messing with chains or cables. Being on crutches all the time, I am not really a big fan of snow and ice to begin with, but I do love visiting now and then.

Yeah, I saw that Tahoe is doing without lately. That's really unusual isn't it?

I used my last vacation day to head up to Pt Reyes today. The elk were nicely right by the road for a change.

Really neat clouds Dave. I love the whole set on your Flickr!
Another shot of Point Reyes. I never get tired of seeing this cresting the hill on the road back from Tomales Point. Point Reyes National Seashore, Jan 3, 2014 by lennycarl08, on Flickr |

Ed, I love the sweeping arch of the coast. I just read a piece about shooting coastal pictures and there was no mention of looking for these archs.
Well done.

Ed that shot of the bull lying down is awesome.
Dave, love the cloud series, that must have been a sight. Nothing special from me, just went through some aviation shots I took during some flights in late November. I quite liked this fisheye view to the outside world: Window to the Sky by ddk632, on Flickr |

That's a fun shot Dave. I like the angle.
Spotted a GHO the other day at the San Luis NWR. He was acrooss a river from me though, so this was really the only angle I could get. Owls are kind of mysterious anyway, so I think it's kind of fitting to see them through all the branches. The area of the NWR this was taken could be right out of a scary movie too, with old trees dipping into still black water with moss and lichen everywhere. Thanks, Ed. Pretty serious crop, but it still held up ok. Pics like this are the upside of snowstorms. The downside is shoveling 9" off the driveway while another inch falls during the time it takes to get to the end. And this is just half the driveway. I need a snow blower.
