If you can't decide about the color or trim - some more walkarounds:

3) The illuminated "Harman Kardon" badge is nice but I rather have the higher quality drivers from prior gen!

4) Illuminated kidney grille brings the bling! I find it odd that Mercedes says they can't keep the star illuminated while driving but BMW has no such qualms w/the kidney?!!!

5) Not a fan of the tiny led below the license plate that acts as the "car in reverse white light indicator" and also is part of the hazard lights array (turns red). Too low on the car to make a difference and at night, the license plate flood light is even brighter! I suspected they made the G45 look like an EV on purpose but this is the smoking gun where BMW just threw on this tiny LED at the end for an ICE car (most EVs emit an audible sound when going in reverse which the G45 is probably not programmed to do)!

I guess the reverse light is located that low because it helps to light up the area on the ground for the rear view camera.

I find it curious that the same light doesn't exist on the back of the very similar iX?

That's because on the iX it's located besides the rear reflectors.

Also a very low spot.

I think this is definitely part of BMW’s plan to migrate typical ICE buyers to EV. It really has little choice in the EU given the mandate to stop selling new ICE cars by 2035 or 2030 in the UK.

UK consumer take up of EV is low, and not achieving the projected levels required, which is sending manufacturers into a spin due to penalties.

It’s not just BMW struggling with the impact of EV - https://news.sky.com/story/japanese-...n-evs-13279098

Ah! So the iX gets 2 of them!

Thanks for the clarification!

Yes, 2 smaller ones on both sides instead of the X3s larger one in the middle.

Personally I prefer the X3s solution with one larger central light.

If this were true, there would be no need for the 2 LEDs to light up on the iX pic you shared in broad daylight!

As a “car in reverse” light, I think 2 lights are better than 1 from a safety point of view!

Nice walkaround video to show the stunning Tanzanite Blue (at least when car is clean and in bright light)
