I recently watched shawshank redemtion. had no idea what it was about before i started watching, had only heardthe name before and not thought much of it. It was great

The first movie with Hannibal Lecter.

Yes, that's the guy, Rick. But he's not the main villain of this movie.

It was adapted from the same book as the more recent movie "Red Dragon," which you may have seen.

I have probably seen it about 150 times. Whenever it's on I have to watch. There is a lot of humanity, sociology, and philosophy that Stephen King worked into the writing of the book. They did a good job of writing the screenplay off of the book.

This was the one that started it....an excellent movie. Red Dragon or Manhunter which ever title you prefer.

Manhunter is way better imo. I like the actors better and I like Michael Mann's style. To each their own, though.

You are correct and I was actually referencing the fact that Manhunter was also released under the title Red Dragon before the Ralph Fines version.
