I agree with this response. We're not perfect at everything (far from it) but we rank highly in many things which is what makes this a nice place to live.

Oh and that Newsroom clip reminded me again of why I can't stand many movies/TV shows recently. I don't know if it's bad editing, bad writing, or bad directing, but more and more space is being removed between lines of dialog. People just don't talk that way.

I moved to the USA with my family.

I'm not saying the US is bad - its better than some places. But LIVE in some other 1st world countries and you'll see why America is not all so great.

Also, America is often viewed negatively in other countries. I've impersonated being from other countries on some overseas trips so I can avoid the stigma.

To actually answer the question, why America is the greatest country on Earth is a very easy one to answer:

1. I can buy a TV, get an oil change, buy some clothes, groceries, and a gun all at the same place.

2. I can buy pretty much anything on Amazon and it'll show up at my door in NO LESS than 2 days.

3. If I need customer service at 4 AM on a Tuesday, guess what? I'm gonna fucking get it.

4. We have it so good here that people have nothing better to do than to get angry over some lion in Zimbabwe.

5. I fucking live here.

Greatest economy
Strongest military
Largest maintainer of world peace
Greatest producer of food
Most free
Etc etc etc. The only time we aren't the greatest is when the government gets involved.
Cutrent administration is on an active campaign to downplay American exceptionalism and spread our wealth around the world to raise their standad of living vs spread out system around the world so they can raise themselves. It's welfare on a global scale. Won't work domestically why think it will worldwide. We need another Reagan.

How can you say "only time we aren't the greatest is when the government gets involved" then list "Strongest military" and "largest maintainer of world peace" in your list?

You managed to contradict yourself in a single paragraph, well done.

I don't think Reagan would fare too well in today's political climate. He raised taxes once.

Just kidding, he didn't raise taxes once, he did it 11 times. Today, politicians shit themselves at the notion of raising it once.

I was thinking that as well because The Social Network had dialog just like that but if he's the writer, at what point would the director step in and change how it's spoken by the actors?

This must be how a Sorkin script is written:

John: Are these you shoes, Honey?

Linda: [speaks over last word of John's sentence] They could be!

John: [speaks over last word of Linda's sentence] Oh great!

Linda: [speaks over last word of John's sentence] Or maybe they belong to one of your whores!

John: [speaks over last word of Linda's sentence] What are you talking about?

Linda: [speaks over last word of John's sentence] I'm talking about the girl from your office!

John: [speaks over last word of Linda's sentence] What girl??

Linda: [speaks over last word of John's sentence] You know exactly who...

Opportunity makes America the best country on this planet.

Where else can a mixed race son of divorced parents attend an Ivy and become president at 46 years old?

Millions of people WANT to come here every year.

Thousands of foreign nationals attend undergrad/graduate school here.

What other nation is synonymous with quality healthcare?
