I have to ask. What have you heard?
I've never heard anything negative. Of course the clientele is very scarce too.

Being petty about transporting a broken down million+ dollar P1 is inexcusable to me. They've also quoted a friend ridiculous labor rates on simple jobs.

There's a new dealer in Houston opening Friday, supposedly. Maybe they will be better.

Houston will be another limb on the Park Place tree as McLaren Dallas already is.

That's strange hearing that about the Dallas store and I'd bet Ken Shnitzer would want to know about it if non-policy pricing was being quoted. If someone wanted a car towed for free and it's not policy then...

I think he runs a pretty tight operation.

Possibly. This is just what I've heard and it definitely doesn't give me the warm and fuzzies about buying a McLaren. My understanding is that McLaren the company wanted the ownership experience to be exceptional, but the ownership experience is only as good as the dealer you're stuck with.

In my opinion, if your brand new million dollar car breaks down you don't quibble over policy. You just take care of it. Especially when you're just getting started selling cars to the public and public perception already isn't the best.

Who knows what happened. But I will say that Park Place is really high on customer satisfaction and overall experience. They're rated right up there with just about every brand they handle.

The car business is a bugger to begin with and it's impossible to please everyone all the time.

Gimme 570s lol.

I think the number of dealerships is one of the problems McLaren has. I think roughly 20 dealership's in the U.S. so most of the country will buy something else just based on the hassle. Someone living in Cincinnati (where I live) will have to deal with the nearest dealership in Chicago (5 1/2 hours). A $200k car doesn't mean you have staff to deal with issues and shipping it to the dealership will have many swayed to Porsche, Audi and others. Then even big city customers are dealing with one dealership that may not be good or anywhere close to them. At the $1 million dollar car level I don't think the owners care nearly as much.

McLaren Houston opens Friday??
Sah-weet! I'm going to go bug them lol.

Luckily in the Houston area we have dealerships to cover pretty much anything, and I think the McLaren customer base will only expand once this place opens. I'm sure they are working on expansion in the US for service issues as stated above which is good for everyone.

$200k? I would rather have a GT3 and a 2015 Honda Civic.

Don't get all the hype for this car. It isn't that great looking, has a bug eyed look. The rear is a mess. Looking at the test results, it's performance isn't overly impressive. I guess the poor-mans McLaren look is enticing to some. To be honest it looks like one of those fake Chinese knock-off cars.

Winning?? It's 2 seconds slower than a Huracan at Willow Springs, not close to it in sound either

The new Audi R8 v10 and v10 plus look to be a better alternative also.

is this a reference to guy in San Fran who sold his m3/4 (don't recall which) and bought a GT3, hated it as a DD and bought a Civic to use? if not, that'd be a funny coincidence. (it's in the M3/M4 vs section)

I think the poor man's McLaren is probably pretty sweet. if I were in the market for a $200k-ish tou, I'd definitely be test driving one.... but there sure as heck is a lot of great competition in that range too.... GT3 and money left over would be my wife's choice lol. she does seriously dislike the 570S so I'd have a tough time clearing it with her.

Sorry, but if I had a GT3 I would not complain one bit.

Harsh ride? don't care
No cargo space? don't care

The beauty alone would make all the negatives worth it.

sO yes, it was a reference to that guy

I've put several thousand miles on my GT3 and I think it would make a fine daily. The main negatives are the lack of cargo space and the low ride height which makes it hard to get in and out of some places even with the front lift. Also the stock tires aren't great in the rain but that would be an easy fix if you wanted to. I don't find the ride to be harsh at all, it's extremely comfortable. It's way more comfortable than my previous 997TT which is supposed to be the GT car. The 991 platform is a huge improvement. It also has all the creature comforts, satellite radio, bluetooth, navigation, power everything, etc. There's really almost no compromise at all with this car. Maybe it's a little louder and less civilized at lower speeds because the PDK wasn't made with that in mind, just like the M3 with DCT can be a little jerky sometimes unless you have a DCT tune.

As for the 570S I think the design looks way more cohesive than the 650S. The 650S was a nose job and the rear doesn't match the front, at least on the 570S it matches. It does seem expensive, though. I wonder how quickly the used values on these will plummet like on the 12C.
