Seeing that your my fellow Bay Area neighbor, you can't let an SUV punk u, that's just not right! You must of been cruising in the fast lane doing 65 mph or something for him to do that. That would piss me off too. Either 1) move over to da slower lane if you just wanna cruise so people like me can get to where they need to go w/out cursing at you, 2) tap ur brakes and flip him off and hold firm doing 65, or 3) punch it and let him eat some exhaust fumes. Come on, we got a reputation to uphold here!!!

Club Lexus. I'm impressed. It must be oh so exclusive. I guess we're just as bad. Sigh. It was not this way back in the early days of the 1600/2002s. The M3 used to stand at arms length from the Yuppie fad, but that enclave has been overrun as well.

People were left lane hugging so I go over in the right lane to pass them. This Lexus SC person saw me coming up and moved over to block me. He kept right next to the Accord that was slowing down traffic. Then we approached a stop sign and the right lane turned into a turning lane. The guy punched it in order to get back in the left lane to go straight and forced me to turn right( I also had room to punch it to pass them both and get back in the left lane and stop before the stop sign, but I used better judgement ).

I just ignore them dude. No need to show your cars faster if you end up getting into an accident. Be the bigger man and shrug it off.

reminds me I noticed also of old civics and accords speed like crazy lol don't they know once they crash its game over.

also trucks like F-150's and tacoma's, seems they have a need to speed and show off with their jacked up trucks to compensate their small penises. LOL

my rant for today

Works best when the light washers kick off too, I even have a name for it "the car wash"

Yeah I get that alot since I live in Southern California where everyone thinks they have a fast car. It's usually some sort of rice rocket (which includes, but not exclusive to the following: G35, Civic, Accords, Z's, Lancers). My response usually is to roll my eyes and ignore them. Sometimes I get a kick when I pass them up going the normal speed limit in one lane, whereas the idiot is cutting in and out of lanes and ends up getting stuck behind a big truck. hehe.

Unfortunately I have one of those boyfriends who thinks he needs to prove something when he drives my car though. I get so annoyed when he revs up my car and looks over at the driver next to him. I've concluded his actions are based on one of the following reasons:

1. He doesn't have his own 335 so he becomes possessed when he drives mine.

2. He is inferior to a woman that makes more money than him, therefore must prove his manliness by driving fast

3. He's a total idiot (but I still love him anyway)

4. ALL OF THE ABOVE.

unfortunately you're using cars as examples that can pull on you if they're tuned. A lexus truck is one thing, but a tuned EVO or STI can give you a run for the money. 335 should be able to slowly pull in front of an M3 as well. But I see your point my man

Do other people get the same? what do you do - race or ignore?

So I created this thread to understand why they do it:
http://www.clublexus.com/forums/showthread.php?t=339512

Anyone understand their psychology?!

original post:

I actually ignore these people. As hard as it may seem sometimes, look at it as a compliment. Like they're intimidated by your ride and for some reason feel the need to prove in one way or another that their car is better than yours. I'm not the type of person to knock on anyother car manufacturer out there. I prefer german cars but am a true enthusiast of all cars. I do however find that mostly those driving jap cars feel the need to instigate those driving german cars. Just what I notice most of the time here by me.

As for tailgaters, if you have a rear sunshade it's great! Usually when I get tailgated, I put up the rear sunshade and then just watch them do a fly by when they realize I just basically put my hand in front of their face Watch how shortly after they just move over and go right past you. Only if I'm not in the left lane though. Even if I'm cruising pretty quick in the left lane and someone's coming up fast on me, I try and move to the right. Left lane is a passing lane regardless of how fast you're going.

Not nearly as bad as the new Land Rover drivers.

You should carry a camera with you. When they fly by you snap a pic with flash and that'll make their blood boil. Of course it's illegal so be careful.

i can burn an M3. piece of cake. And im not talking the older ones, im talking E9x. Smoked, out of the water, eating my dust. Its hilarious to watch their faces when they pull up next to me at the light and realize they spent 60K on an M, when a 335 just handed them their a$s on a silver platter. HA

I don't see that happen too much around here, but I just chalk it up to jealousy. Kind of like when that riced out Integra wants to race? Just ignore them, it can only end up badly.

Here in north Texas (Dallas and Plano especially) the absolute worse drivers are women who drive large SUV's (GMC, H2, Infiniti, Chevy, Ford, Lexus, Benz, X5 - it doesn't matter) and who appear to have a cellphone permanently attached to their ear -- oftentimes the back of their vehicles are adorned with a ton of stickers bragging about their spoiled kids and all the bullshit activities they are in, or what Mega-Church they go to, etc, or how much they love "W", etc etc. They don't use their turn signals, they tailgate, when not tailgating they're driving under the speed limit in the left lane, they don't yield, and in fact drive as if the entire world belongs to them. And if you honk your horn at one of them to preclude her from smashing into your car, they'll stare at you with a pissed-off, horrified look, and maybe even flip you off. Probably the worst of all are the Infiniti drivers, maybe because they think they have a hot "performance" vehicle. Also, give H2's an extra wide berth...

The guys in diesel Ford F-250's (or 350's or 450's even) with 4 wheel drive, elevated suspensions, massive off-road tires, and NOT A SPECK of dirt (or scratch or ding) are pretty F-ing bad too. We have about as many of these types here as we do the SUV chicks...

I like to drive fast, but don't like to street race. In situations like the ones indicated in this thread, I do something that's pretty satisfying for me.

I downshift to 3rd or 4th in the fast lane until I slow to around 55mph. Happens pretty quick, so unless the guy is on the ball for a quick lane change, he's usually still tailgating behind me. Probably up'd his annoyance factor by slowing down, since he'd have to brake.

Then I just gun it and shoot up to 85, leaving him in the dust. It's not a race. Most of the time, once they see me pull that hard, they don't bother catching up and tail-gating. If they do, I slow and do it once more, this time shooting up to something slightlyyy faster. After that, the issue is usually over.

The cars who typically tail gate me are the ones mentioned in this thread, annoying SUVs, pick-ups, or cars w/ a huge power-to-weight discrepancy when compared to our cars.

Ha, I call it the smokescreen...I only do it in when I've deemed someone to be a supreme douchebag...

Did this to a guy in a vette about a year ago...on a two-lane, he was going 5 mph below speed limit...so I casually passed purposely trying NOT to induce a race...he then proceeded to ride my ass at +10 mph to the speed limit...A good 5 second blast and he dropped so far back I could barely see his headlights in the rearview.

Otherwise tend to ignore instigators...hence my decision for getting a 328 instead of a 335, there's just no way I'd be able to contain myself.
