Good luck OP! Like Lups, I really love tobacco and have smoked it, chewed it etc. Smoked for more than 20 years and quit cold turkey when my first son was born. No patches for me, just lots of gum chewing. That was 17+ years ago and to this day I chew a lot of gum!

I will on occasion puff on a cigar but have no interest in cigarettes. As others have pointed out, the craving never really goes away but it is really a choice, my health or a cigarette.

Vaping helps. Tobacco contains natural MAOIs that make it more addictive than pure nicotine.

I've been a avid vaper for about 6years now and it has really helped me cut off cigarettes completely. I've done test on my body every year since then to see the damage vaping has done to my body and have seen nothing but improvements.

many people aren't addicted to nicotine or cigarettes itself. its mostly the motion and the things you would do while you smoke. most people tend to use the as their thinking time and their time to relax and process things within their minds.

i would give vaping a chance go to your local vape shop and see what they can do for you. you may spend some extra cash but will pay off in the end. i continue to vape myself because i choose to. if i wanted to stop completely it wouldn't be a problem as I've read most people have done in here.

if you get a good device and a good tank to vape your juice in you should only need about 3MG of nicotine (within the entire bottle)

if you smoke a lot this is what i recommend.

- 3mg -5-6 cigarettes a day.
-6mg a pack a day.
-12mg more then a pack a day.

remember everyones body reacts differently to nicotine so start off low and work your way up if needed.

they biggest thing within this is you yourself if you want to quit you will and with the rite motivation should be a breeze.

i was never a fan of cold turkey because of the level of stress and anxiety it would give me but again different for everyone.

if anyone needs any help or wants to learn anything i will be more then happy to help you. shoot me a PM and we can definitely talk and help you through everything and get you off the smokes!

One I think since you're 38 year old viking with long hair and a tray of jalapenos in your hand.

After you have your hair brushed and conditioned tomorrow let's talk. My friend's first born managed to get this. She's 10 and she is pretty much a part of my family so i would appreciate a complete crash course on things that have happened in your life. I have gone through the medical data, i have a friend in real life who has it, she is not a tiny kid, but i like to be super prepared always.

It's just weird since she walks the dogs with me often but now i have to stop freaking out while being aware. Since I'm a mom and she still is trusted to climb trees with me, i kind of prefer handling this freaking out shit here.

I smoked for 20 years then went to some odd ball clinic which charged me $300 for a stop smoking session. During the treatment they pressed what appeared to be a red laser pointer to various spots on my neck and head. I laughed at it, but didn't pick up a cigarette for 7 years after. I think the idea of throwing away $300 was more powerful than any effect the treatment had but whatever it was, it worked. Then 3 years ago I allowed our nephew (who smokes) to come stay with us for a couple months and I was right back on them. Hate myself for it but still smoke a pack a day. Bad part is I gained 50 lbs when I quit and it hasn't come back off since restarting so now I'm fat and have bad lungs. Then that made me real sad so I started smoking weed more frequently. Now I'm fine with everything

I loved smoking. I wasn't going to give it up and I knew it, so I switched to vaping. For me, it took the same type of commitment as quitting. If I wanted to switch, I had to really want it. Nov. 2013 I started the switch and was surprised when I was able to drop cigs completely in just shy of a week (while out of town on business, at that). I came to a sudden realization one afternoon while walking out of our office in Beverly Hills headed to lunch as I lit that cigarette that I was only doing so out of habit, not desire anymore. I stomped the cig out and proceeded to vape. Have ever since. No cigs since that day. So now I just vape and idiots around me stay alive.

I keep telling myself that I'll quit, but always end up buying a pack of Newports. Might as well quit though, don't smoke in morning / at work / on way home from work. Usually leave the pack on the table in the living room. So essentially the first smoke of the day is around 5pm, might smoke 3 or 4 in a day.

Have considered getting a vape, but the culture is pretty fucking annoying.

Smoked for 10 years or so, then quit for 7, then started smoking again for couple years, and turned to vaping.

I frackin LOVE vaping. Like anything, there are annoying parts of any "culture". Also, it's easy to be a discreet/inconspicuous vaper. Just because one exhales thick clouds of vapor (I think the term is douche floof) doesn't mean one subscribes to the annoying parts of the vape culture.

So this is day 2. Stay strong!

Apparently it also helps to go to a sauna or such and sweat the nicotine out of your body. Helps reduce the cravings for the first couple days.

The Audi\VW owners crowd is pretty fucking annoying, too, but that didn't hinder my enjoyment of owning two of them...I don't like the stigma of driving a BMW, yet here I am in my second one.

On a serious note, when it comes to smoking, don't let a perception of the culture stop you from using it to quit smoking.

Good luck OP. I have been smoking for over 15 years. Tried quitting many times and would end up coming back, sometimes after as long as almost a year. Tried everything from patches, gum, pills, etc. I'm planning to give it another try at the end of the week. Most of my friends and coworkers don't smoke so it should be easier this time around.

Touche. Maybe I'm just getting old an senile. Like all the kids running on the lawn at the apartment..., where is the respect? Little shits.

Do you have any recommendations? Don't care for anything fancy, but something that will do the job.

Yup...Day 2 and I'm hurting...Wanted one so badly in the car today, but the craving passed. I had a nicorette yesterday and today, but I find the taste gross and going to start tomorrow with nothing.

Staying strong. I'm telling myself that I don't need to smoke when a craving comes on. I'm also tracking the money I'm saving on not smoking. That's motivation alone.

You did the first day, just remind yourself, if you have another one, you have to do that first day again. You are either a smoker or you are not, there is no in between.

I find the patches work well for me (only use the Nicoderm brand the off brand versions suck) but have some draw backs. Being a tech, sometimes I am sweating my balls off and the patch will slide off and end up in my underwear. "Why is my ass so itchy?!?!" Sorry for that image.

I had quit about 8 years ago, but then a traumatic event in my life happened and I picked it up again. That was 5 years ago, still trying to quit again.

I despise going for juice and coils because of the farts hanging out inside blowing clouds. That's their toy, it seems. More vegetable in the juice will produce less visible vapor. My blend gives off very little.

I'm with you there. I've been yelling that since my late 20's.

I use this:
https://www.joyetech.us/e-cigarette/...o-d22-kit.html

and this:
http://www.eleafworld.com/icare/

I also use the "old school" top fire, long wick coils and tank plus batteries. My advice is skip those and go straight to something like I've linked above.

If you're gonna do it, treat it like a cigarette. If you crave, grab the e-cig. Every. Single. Time. Nicotine strength is something you'll have to determine on your own starting out. If you are over half to one pack a day, probably start out with 24. I am steady at 11-12. I have one fruity flavor from my local store that only they sell and the other two are Dekang DK-4 and Joyetech RY4. Yeah, I use the Chinese shit. No, I don't care what anyone says. I've had no adverse effects from either of these two brands and they are widely available for ordering over the Internet. My local store just happens to stock both in mass quantity along with everything else they sell.

I do, too, but it's a small price to pay (5-10 mins.) to get what I need and leave to make sure I don't pick up a cig. A good vape store you walk into, tell them you're a smoker and you wanna quit, and someone there should be able to get you started with simple stuff. My store's run by mod carrying crazies, but if you were new, walked in there, and told them why you were there, they wouldn't try to sell you some stupid crazy machine. Their approach to wannabe non-smokers is to get you to vape instead of smoke and they're smart enough to know advising you to buy a contraption is dumb.

I converted to vaping (yes I know...) couple weeks ago. I haven't wanted a cig since. I can't even stand the smell anymore.

After I'm done this juice, I doubt I will need anything. Will miss the frequent smoke breaks though. Makes the day go by
