Since this is nissan's entry level coupe, it looks like it would compare to a boxer S or a Cayman S. Unless you look at the Sentra SER as the entry "sports" car.

It has similar straight line numbers as the CaymanS/BoxsterS. Not sure how it will compare on a track but it looks like it will be close (when looking at the skid pad and braking numbers).... Interesting.

It's a mixed bag. And I dunno how you can make an assumption like that.

I had a 350Z and it never rattled, or gave me other significant problems for that matter, save for the driver's window. Most of the noise in my car came from wider front tires and worn pillowball joints from my coilovers.
I wish they did a mild, evolutionary change to the looks. The new Z gets more bizarre every time I see it. |

The only thing I'm jealous about is the LSD I think Nissan's doing a great job on the performance department for this car, just the looks takes some getting used to. I'd love to pick up one of these maybe 2-3 yrs down the line used, assuming I can find one where it hasn't been beat on hard (nearly impossible with old 350Zs).

As I thought, this car is more than a match for the 335i, in fact in many ways it's more than a match for the M3 (minus acceleration, image, build quality, looks, noise, fun, etc).
Well, you get my point. IMPRESSIVE CAR |

See , so much for the 300-400lb weight savings over the last Z,,, Thats all they been talking about.
Its 88 lbs lighter. And I bet the inside is even more cramped...like sitting in a bath tub. |

I also used to own a 350Z. Let's just hope getting extra power out of the bigger motor isn't as hard as it was with the VQ35. Getting any extra HP out of that motor was like trying to squeeze milk out of metal. It was like you lost HP just by opening the hood. Would it really have killed Nissan to put a downrated version of the GTR motor in the Z?

Wow. Amazing braking numbers...
My money is on good drivers just BARELY breaking into the 12s. Slightly quicker than a stock 335/135, and a good bit quicker than STI/Evo. Good place to be. I wonder if this car will beat the E90 M3 around a track the way the previous Z did the E46? Big brakes and big grip... we'll see. This car looks very promising.

Really liked my 350Z but the engine lacked torque and even that was in a narrow power band.
The 370 has more HP and torque but it is still not enough for it to keep up with a 330i much less a 335i. Great car as a grand tourer though! |
