Panerai watches are the best in my opinion. Rare. Classy. Rugged. And very attractive. They cost, so save up:-)

Panerais are my favorite also, but way out of the OPs price range. Even for an average Panerai your lloking at 6K. I would love to have a Panerai GMT or something though...probably will be my next watch.

I believe rolex's are over rated...they can't keep time for anything but they do hold value. I also feel the same about tags as well. Your best bet would be omega seamasters and Oris watches look at the tt1. I believe costco was selling those for 1400 for a while. What kind of a watch/theme are you looking for anyways? please stay away from movados though...
