Remember how a lot of Japanese brands were crappy a few decades back? Hyundai, like the Japanese, is coming around with a vengeance. And don't overlook the fact that Hyundai isn't boring technology anymore. Their promising new V8 (the Tau) is self researched and developed.

My first new car was a 2003 Tiburon GT 6spd. i drove the hell out of that car (3 years, 70,000 miles). springs, dampers, sways, intake, catback, STS, and a few others. the car was fun, got good mileage and had very little problems. (window motors and a door lock). sometimes wish I would have kept it as a daily driver when I bought my STI. I'd even consider buying another one.
those first pics are old, at least 2 years. but the information seems a bit updated. http://www.newgenesiscoupe.com/ is owned by the same people as www.newtiburon.com, where I spent countless hours. Hyundai is trying very hard to position themselves as a economy luxury brand and i think they're on the right track. At the end of the day though, when you get into a BMW it feels like a BMW and when you get into a Hyundai, it feels like a Hyundai. that will be the hardest part to replicate. |

I think that it looks to much like an Infinity G... I hate how car companies are taking body styles and hardly changing anything and throwing their brand logo on there..

If the price was low enough and the performance high enough I'd get one for a beater.

The people who might really need to be worried are the guys at GM if this sells at the same price as the Camaro. It's not like they can afford to lose even a single sale.

this hurts
Both Genesis Coupe and sedan are rich in ultra-high-strength steel, leading to world-class body rigidity. The Genesis sedan is 10-12 percent stiffer in torsion than Lexus and Mercedes-Benz competitors, yet it is lighter than these benchmark sedans, and offers more interior room. At just 3,303 pounds, the Genesis Coupe 2.0T is hundreds of pounds lighter than all of its IRS-equipped rear-wheel-drive competitors, with body-bending rigidity 24 percent higher than BMW E46 M3. Vehicle/Length/Curb Weight (lbs.)/Horsepower/Power-to-weight ratio Genesis Coupe 3.8/182.3/3400/310 (est.)/11.0 BMW 335i/181.1/3571/300/11.9 Infiniti G37/183.1/3616/330/11.0 Camaro LS/190./3780/300 (est.)/12.6 Challenger/197.7/3819/250/15.3

What the heck, ill stir the Hyundai shit pot again with even more GenCoupe porn:
Too bad the US car probably wont get the black headlights (if those are even a factory part...) or the mirror integrated signals. They always keep the best stuff for the home market don't they? I'll be very curious to see what the price will look like on a 380 Track (6mt/Brembo/Torsen/HID/leather). If it's like ~$30k sticker with all that stuff the rest of the GT-coupe world would have a serious problem on their hands. |
