From my understanding, there's the new electronic power steering and new locking rear differential (M Sport Differential?).

These should be relatively minor anyway, correct, and can easily be remapped/tuned via software/firmware updates? I think the video with Horatiu driving did show the BMW engineer tweaking the steering response/settings electronically.
It will vary but overall I would say pretty good. My MY19 X5 has been very good and plan on keeping it for a few more years. The MY24 50e on the other hand has been plagued by issues.

I'll be skipping PHEVs most likely and jump to BEVs. Hoping some of the BMW BEVs (bread and butter 3 and X3) will eventually have more contemporary-looking interiors and exterior designs. The futuristic Neue Klasse concepts aren't growing on me yet.

Also read that batteries for the previous 45e cost $20,000 so for people like me who keep vehicles for a long time, it's almost as if it doesn't make sense to go for a PHEV, with higher cyclic aging based on my driving use cases.

It looks okay. I don’t like the lower front bumper being split like that though. Grill shape isn’t bad.

I wish they'd actually increase rear legroom. The increase in size seems to all be going towards the cargo area.

I think it will be quite a long time before you see BMW change from he "futuristic" looks. While we are likely seeing some manufactures reversing course and going make to more buttons I think BMW is actually going the opposite way in some situations and removing the few they had left. I think we will get a better idea when the G65 comes out as the G45 and NA5 were designed a few years ago.

Thank you! That's my one complain about the G01, and I was hoping G45 would take care of this.

True about the design and choices of material. Didn't think of that.

Here's to hoping the SkyTop concept means BMW going back to the iDrive 7-like interior, which I think is good looking.

Not sure why people complain about the infotainment display looking like a tablet stuck on the dash. I mean whereelse can the display for it to be along the line of sight, it really has to be partially above the dashboard level anyway, the same way / position my smartphones are attached via mounts in my other two vehicles.

I think a lot of the complaints are not where it is but rather how. On the X5 it looks like they asked the weekend maintenance person to design a bracket if they had nothing else to do. It is a very cheap/afterthought looking solution. Hopefully on the redesigns they make it look more integrated.

Anyone know about X4? If it will be updated to have new interior set up for ID8?

It’s not so much about the table or screen, it’s how it’s integrated or applied. They literally removed the “bump” and replaced it with a curved display with two visible brackets in the rear.

True, from the passenger side, that stand/rest for the curved display looks so silly.

Surprised that the iDrive 8 on the X1 and X2 seem better designed, even the shapes of the screens look better or maybe they are shorter too so doesn't look too stretched.

The G45 M50 uses the same B58 engine (inline 6) as the current G01 M40i.

Looks the same to me. Just the other one is the normal trim, and the blurry pic is probably m sport trim.

Yup this seems like the obvious way to reconcile the two leaks. Especially since this one is supposedly the M50 which will have the M Sport look.

I think it’s gonna be a inline 6 because they are making the B58 a more special option to incorporate an electric powertrain into the base models

I was seeing sunglasses out of their case, but the buddies hugging is way better, lol.

It does look better than the first leak but still a very far call from a beauty. Need to see what it looks like in dark paints, that can tone down the busy overlapping shapes.

BMW really is trying to make people pay more for M-Sport facia..
It's either you get the ugly look of non-Msport grill or pay more!

The Skytop concept is a 8 series underneath, which is still on OS7. I don't think one can read anything about future interior design directions out of that concept.

Gotcha. The exterior of the 8 Series is beautiful, that or the 8GC (if they're different) were mostly the only models on display at the Welt when visited in 2019.

Relatively new to the BMW World since my father lent me his late 80's 318i 5 M/T with not a lot power. Those days, Honda kinda ruled the naturally aspirated engines.

I don't think the curved display will turn me off enough to dissuade a purchase even though Hyundai is coming up with similar curved displays but I think in terms of glare and pure aesthetics, the binnacle housing and separate infotainment screen + some buttons look/work best.

Long time no speak Turtle! Hope you’ve been doing great.

I really want to wait and see what the X3 G45 looks like but I will say the one we got leaked over a week ago was 100% real. Don’t know why BMW designed it like that.
