True statement. I think BMW is finally paying attention to the forums and the markets. Offering season on the 20s is a good step but they need to move to all season for all wheel sizes. People just don't know what they are getting as far tires when they get bigger wheels and get all butt hurt when somebody informs them. The new 1037M wheels are way easier to clean and coat as far as I can tell.

anyone knows know much offset allowance (front and rear) for the wheels for a more flushed look? is there at least 3/4 inch inset?

The Michelins are a tad noisier, the sidewall is more square, the ride is a little less soft but I can’t tell if it’s because of the increase in tire pressure. On the good years I had 33 up front and 38 in back. On the Michelins I have 39 up front and 42 on the back for higher speed driving. If I want a softer ride I’ll just lower the pressure. But the higher pressure will give better rolling resistance in efficient coasting mode so I’m hesitant. The all season year round is less labor n gives peace of mind in all conditions. The grip is just as good as Goodyears

what is bmw spec pressure?

why would you want higher pressure for higher speed when tires will have higher temps and pressure increase? you may pick up 3-5psi so now your rear is abover 45psi. this may reduce grip and cause uneven tread wear. if you have 3-4 folks riding then sure increase tire pressure as recommended.

If you check tire settings on idrive9 there’s a setting for speeds above 100mph and the recommended pressure for front and rear tires is higher they want 39 up front and 44 rear

The heat generated by high speed plus the heat of sidewall flex at the acceptable pressures below 100mph combine to produce excessive heat above 100mph. The issue is not wear. The issue is keeping the tire compound within its safe performance envelope.

Think of a tire with a nail. Pressure goes down tire flexes more. Eventually the rubber and cords cannot take the heat that is building up from add flexing and they disintegrate from overheating. This is a blow out that people blame on the nail. Same idea at high speed. More flex more heat and less ability to dissipate the heat you end up with the same kind of blowout.

Dunno the full offset allowance but for reference I just had a custom set of Vossen HF-5s put on yesterday. Fit perfectly, IMO.

You see how the Michelin sidewalk looks beefier/square and the Goodrich looks more low profile because it has rounded edges? Both the same size but the Michelin looks like it has more sidewall not sure if I like the aesthetics, but I’ll take the peace of mind of an all season. Also the compound on the Goodrich is so sticky tire shine absorbs unevenly, the Michelin looks more uniform with any tire dressing applied.
