The only thing I can think of in that price are Rockports. They're more comfortable than basic shoes such as Johnston & Murphys or Bostonians. Go to a mall and try some.

They are my favorite, by far. The Neiman Marcus here is limited as to what shoes they carry, and usually Prada has the biggest selection for men's shoes. Gucci as well, but I don't care for their styling much. I like Tod's too.

Needless to say I'm going on my 15th or so pair of Pradas. Both men's and women's - men's are much more comfortable though.

I'm feeling the need to shop now, thanks a LOT!

LOL, you'll be fine with Cole Haans, everyone has their own guilty pleasure. I can't understand why on earth someone would pay $5,000 for breaks! Do you KNOW how many pairs shoes that would get you?!?!?!

Did you order then from zappos?

what i did after i landed my first post b-school job was to make a beeline for nordstroms. yes, you will pay more, but i was able to explain my needs and get exactly what i needed from a patient, knowledgeable sales person. since i was going into management consulting, i had a few requirements:
-extremely comfortable (schlepping thru all kinds of airports w/ bags is no fun w/ crappy shoes)
-formal enough to be presentable at client sites
-durable
-versatile (go w/ suit, slacks, etc)

i ended up w/ a pair of black cole haan's for about 350. 4 years later, they are still going strong.

i got cole haans for 85 there probably not as fancy as yours but for me shoes go in the garbage in a year, give or take a month or two. Thats why i don't spend a lot on them they usually get worn out or i just mess them up. I know one could argue and say "buy a pair of nice shoes and keep them it'll be cheaper in the long run" but I'm going to be running place to place and i know i'm going to mess them up, nor do i have the time to polish them lol

Buy better clothes. My custom suits and shirts, with the Alden shoes, are some of the most comfortable clothes I own, outside of workout clothes.

Usually any decent dress shoe is going to be uncomfortable the first few times you wear it, until it breaks in.

I've found Ferragmos to be very comfortable. Of course a decent pair of Ferragamos runs about $300, but I've had one pair last almost 7 years now.

I've always like CH, Born, and J&M

I have too many shoes but I do wear them often........though less and less these days. God I love working for myself.
