If it's not leased run the wheels off of it. Sell it now for a loss and it will take a long time for your savings to catch up to the loss.

Never understood why people don't DD their 3 series or 1 series. It is a daily driver. Just like all the other women on the roads that daily drive it. It is just a entry level car. If you have a M3 then that is understandable.

It is funny how people store their cars or only use it during weekends and only use like 5000 miles a year. You bought a car to drive not for it to sit in the garage all day.

New Ford Fiesta? Starts at around $15k, and is a great bang for the buck...

Mehh. I dont agree wit that. I think these cars are made for all seasons, I think the only cars that should be stored are exotics and Classics. I personally drive my Jag xfr all winter (canada) I even leave the 20's on and just put winter tires. What fun is it having the car if your afraid to drive it.

Then there are people like me who picked up a new 335, fired up a cigarette and floored it on and off for about 30 miles.

To each their own.

In FL i can put 100 ta 200 miles in one day on the car if I did everything I wanted to... I already have 12k after 7 and a half months... I bought my car but I don't want to have a fairly new car with 60 ta 80k miles on it... I would love to get a beater car just to cruse on most of the time and keep miles off my car... so I can understand...

15K? Take a look at Civic, Focus, Corolla, Mazda3. You might even be able to pick up a Camry LE or Accord LX at that price. I got my Civic LX brand new for $14,500 or somewhere right around there. It's a nice car, has a comfortable interior, and gets good mileage. Only downside is it has lots of road and wind noise. A Corolla might be quieter. Sub-compacts like the Fit or Fiesta might be good too. Not only are they good on gas, but the hatchback designs make them great if you need to go pick up something big. I think the Fit has around 60 cubic feet of space with it's backseats folded down.

Exactly. I have 50K miles on my car after just over 2 years and its a blast...

Fiesta is a good option but those can be pushed to about 20K when loaded with the nice stuff.

Honda Civic Si--The minivan looking one. Reliable as heck and reasonably spacious as a hot hatch. Fun little car to brighten the boring commute!

With the mediocre 2.slow engine from the 80's along with rear drums. Thanks but no thanks I'd grab an MK4 instead of some leftover MK5

I love the 3 series as a DD so much I put 3,400 miles in three weeks.

If you really gotta buy a beater, buy a new Lancer in manual. It's a fun little car to drive (gotta rev it up) and very maneuverable / easy to park.

I just recently moved and now only drive 5 minutes to work. So I'm on the opposite side - not even getting the engine warm. So I'm looking for a beater too.

I'd go with a honda or just for the change go with a small pick up truck- could come in real handy.

Yeah, I think these kinds of threads are really talking about being financially uncertain and not about the cars themselves.

If one is worried about the expenses, or getting scratches and dings, etc., then it sounds more like a financial situation is really at the root of it all. Any nice car is much more enjoyable to own if you're 100% okay with the costs. Then the dings and scratches, the insurance, repairs, etc., won't be such a worry. You'll just drive the damn thing and enjoy it.

Part of the problem is that BMW tosses around leases to everybody like candy.
