What do you plan on doing with it? Just checking email, surfing the net, etc? Any risk of damage from taking a spill? Are you going to get rained on? Do you want to risk a $1,000 machine when a $250 - $300 machine will do the same thing (albeit with a much smaller screen.)

i actually have a previous gen Air sitting on my desk. im selling it. apple care till july but it will definitely be more than $400
as far as netbooks, it took me exactly 15 minutes to start hating it. those things are fucking retarded. there is no way in hell to get any work done on that, let alone type documents, unless you have hands of a 5 year old and a tiny-ass head that you can stick right in front of that joke of a display.

I've got a macbook air myself, the previous model with SSD Hard disk. It is really convenient if you do alot of travelling but please be aware the battery life when watching movies on it is around 2 hours max.
Oh and you can't really run 1080p movies on it, it lags the shite out of this comp. Maybe I haven't configured the codecs correctly. my 2 cents |

Samsung just released a MB Air competitor if you want a Windows OS system. It looks pretty slick but it is pricey at $1600. I cant remeber the exact model number but Google is your friend. Don't know anything about its performance. I have a MB Air and I really like it. Another poster mentioned iPad2, might be worth looking into.

Just an update, because I know you all care so fucking much, I bought an Acer Aspire One netbook today. It has the upgraded something or other so it is faster. Yeah, that's the extent of my technological mastery, and the fact that I kinda zoned out as the sales guy was talking so excitedly about netbooks...
