Thanks . It's possible he wasn't sure about his car, but I don't think any 997 comes with less than 325hp. I could be mistaken. Maybe he was talking WHP? I don't doubt what you saw!

i love it when people race and are nice afterwards and dont talk crap. its also great when we can get these threads and no one talks crap about how immature and dangerous it is. there is no way to stop these threads so we need a racing section so we can talk about this and people who hate it can stay out of that section.

are you sure that it was not a 996? with just a quick glance the 996 can be mistaken for the 997.

kinda off topic but, when he said 360 from 280 i was wondering, dont most mods say they can add up to a certian amount of hp boost but usually dont? and by adding what they say they can add he might have arrived at this number?

If you truly confirmed that you killed a 997 Carrera then congrats. I had a used 911 (964) Carrera 4 Cabriolet back in 2000 and did a couple of mods(pipen air filter and a chip) but did not noticed much of a difference, N/A engines wouldn't make that much power with simple bolt ons.

He could be a bad driver, but anayway, if you truly think he was on the gas and you think you really killed him then we are all with you.

On the another note, if the owner told you that stock he had 280hp then mostlikely it was a 911(993) 95-98 body style.

+1!! i agree we need a racing section. and yes it was a 997. i was staring at his car for awhile.. it was really nice. i love porsches. the 996 is a lot smaller, or just looks smaller. im positive it was a 997

he was definitely flooring it. we raced more than once, about 3 or 4 times.
do you think im blind or something? lol i was staring at the car.. i kno cars pretty well. 95-98 body style isnt even close to what the 997 looks like

I alluded to this a little to in my previous post, and you are correct. I think people see claims from manufacturers stating, "guaranteed X-Y HP gain". However, if you ever look at the power/torque curve when placed on a dyno, the gains usually are not at your peak HP. For example, my K&N claims +15 max hp. This is true, but I looked at the dyno graph posted by someone at Rennlist and it showed the 15hp gain came from somewhere around the 260hp mark at a much lower RPM than what the peak actually is. In reality, I think it showed ~4-5 hp added to the cars peak HP. Some add-ons might not add any peak hp or torque. This is why you can't just add numbers. In an NA car, the best thing (and sometimes the cheapest) to do is to shave weight which is why you will see alot of 911's sans the sunroof.

My boss has a 997 Cab and I would usually walk him with my B5 S4 (chipped). My 335 is slightly quicker than the audi, so I don't find it unreasonable

I guess the thrill of victory outweighs the possibility of losing control on a local street at such speeds. Congrats on your "kill", but try to save that stuff for I-75 and be grateful that you made it home in one piece.

Congrats! Stories like yours are priceless. A sleeper killing a sports car. Those 19" rims were also hurting the Porsche's performance.

What pisses me off is the misconception that people have about "chips", especially on NA cars. I hear ridiculous claims over hp gains from simple chips. How about a 75hp gain on a 2004 T-Bird or 90hp gain on a 92 M5? The winner is this young punk whit a 93 Civic DX (1.3 75hp) claiming 240hp.
