FAculty six, oh eight, four six. It was our party line number (remember those?) when I was very young. When my folks moved a few years later they somehow managed to take the number with them. So it was their number for over 60 years! When area codes came around they went through a few, but the base number never changed.

I'm just glad that I'm not a smoker nor do I hang with any. Though I'm in my early 50s, I can easily pass for 10 or more years younger. I attribute part of that to not smoking, and also by eating healthy and exercising regularly for many years. It makes me feel good when I see others my age that look old AF.

Good for you about smoking, Tim

I just posted in the music thread about smoking. Wish I never did but glad I quit. Been about 25 years now and I'm still here.

PS - I get angry to the point of violence whenever I smell tobacco now. lol

I can remember when it was virtually impossible to be in a room full of people anywhere that you didn't have smoke in the air. Airplanes were the worst! My mother was a heavy smoker and died at the age of 56 from lung cancer. Now I can smell cigarette smoke in my car if someone in the car in front of me is smoking. My son-in-law is a smoker and has tried and failed many times to quit. At least he doesn't smoke around my grand daughter or in the house or car at all. I wish he could find a way to quit.

I did it with the help of Nicorette. It took me many times, because I kept going back to it. Eventually it stuck. I just kept telling myself how horrible it would be for my family to watch me die that way. Of cancer or a heart attack or stroke, etc. I couldn't do that to them and that was what ultimately worked for me.

Yeah, I'm glad that my family didn't smoke when growing up, nor any of my friends throughout life. Well, of course there was the occasional stoner I would befriend in high school, but not the tightknit group sort of friend. Lol. He was the type that would bust out his electric guitar and amp when I'd come over and have some puffs while doing it.

Good for you to have gotten over the habit of smoking. Definitely better late than never. I'm sure many people could only wish they could kick the habit.

I wish it was just a habit. It's an addiction that is very hard to quit.

When I was growing up everybody smoked. Both my parents, all my friends. I knew when I was very little that I would smoke. Glad it's different today.
