but my point is, the thread was just a simple question i asked which was about financial aid, and had nothing to deal with my personal life. i qualify for FA so i am on it. im tired of arguing with you now. you and i are completely different in different situations. as you stated before are worried about getting a job after college, paying for it, etc. me on the otherhand got other worries and other plans i have. so lets call it truths and leave it at that. and college i got in with a 1830 sat and a 3.4gpa currently doing business major. |

Most schools still only look at the score out of 1600 and the ones that do use writing don't focus on it that heavily. So in practice it still is out of 1600 and still a terrible measure of ability that's way too easy. You shouldn't have as many people as you do getting in the 1500-1600 range, makes it damn near impossible for top schools to differentiate. The SAT II's are just as bad.

FWIW I got above a 15xx on the 1600 scale, and above a 22xx on the 2400 scale, but didn't get into any of my top choice schools even with a 3.8 GPA.

I don't think there's a salary cap for FA. I've heard of people whose parents make in excess of 6 figures getting on FA. Sometimes it depends on how much their parents are willing to pay for their education. You could have parents that are millionaires, but if they don't want to pay for your college education, you kind of have no choice but to get FA. It sounds crappy, but it happens.

FA is government assistance sort of like welfare.. And it does have a salary cap(in my state its $25k a year), like I said I know a few people on it and its sad since right now for the past few weeks they haven't been able to work or they will earn too much and not qualify for it but of course they cant earn enough to go without it, so they have to go into debt this time of year until the year is over. |

I'll only do it if i truly have to, not to mention the fact you have to watch what you sign, the government is an evil thing at times.

The average income in 2006 for a household was $48,201 and thats form the US census. The average income per person was about $26k. Some states averages are higher and some are lower. but thats the overall..
I laugh at people in college who think they are going to earn $70k their first year on the job... |

This part is a little OT, but as for going out on the town in NYC, stay near the meat-packing district if you want to drink for cheap, or goto Park, which is one of I think 2 or 3 places in NY w/o cover. =P If you want to go to Marquise, be prepared to spend at least $500 per person to get a table. |
