I'm in my late 20's and am an outlier in my generation in regards to my enthusiasm and passion for automobiles (be they EV or ICE). The generation(s) after me could not care less. Many don't even have driver's license or care to get them. These are future "customers" that automakers will have to cater to. It is a bleak future, and I try not to think about it too much. I'm just glad that I was able to pick up one of my attainable dream cars this year and I plan to drive it until it's no longer feasible.
I'm the same age as you. Out generation and kids younger don't really seem to care about cars beyond the superficial level. People will follow accounts on IG or Tiktok but that's kinda it. These generations grew up with phones and tablets, so a car like Tesla which is an extension of that is what's desirable, not something like an M2 or Boxster. People look at you funny if you mention steering feel or handling.

i kinda feel all these companies saying 'its the last of its kind, or most power NA engine (for its size)' is just trying to push product. just giving salesmen more ammo 'oh its the last one, its rare, sorry we can't haggle'.

what better way to push product than to tell everyone its going out of stock.

i do think it will happen... but we're probably going to see a full electric M3 or 911 on the road before it happens in america.

Winner winner.....

There's a reason Dodge is selling 392s and Hellcats 20k over sticker....

"There's not going to be many more made" or "good luck getting one".

I flipped a hellcat durango (it was too slow for my liking) and made $10k on it and I bought it $4k over sticker. I had dealers in Cali offering my $110-115k at minimum, just too much hassle and they would've sold it for $120-130k easy.

Or in EV terms:

Horsepower (hp) = Voltage x Amperage x % EFF x power factor x 1.73/746

Where:
Voltage is the average of the three voltages measured: (A-B + A-C + B-C)/3

Amperage is the average current of the three phase measured: (A+B+C)/3

% EFF is motor efficiency per motor nameplate

Power factor is the ratio of true power (kW) to apparent power (kVA). In the absence of power factor measurement tools, a rule of thumb is to estimate power factor at 0.85

1.73 is a constant used when calculating three-phase power

746 is the constant for converting watts to horsepower (746 watts = 1 Hp)

Example: How much horsepower is a 25 hp motor producing at 472 volts and drawing an average of 20 amps per phase with a motor nameplate marking of 90 % efficiency?

Horsepower (hp) = Voltage x Amperage x % EFF x power factor x 1.73/746

= 472V x 20A x 0.90 x 0.85 x 1.73/746 = 17 Hp

I loved watching the YouTube videos off folks trying to tow with their model Xs and ending up stranded with no battery.

Diesel electric is the real solution, but auto manufacturers would never let it happen.

Fat POS?

You talking about Tesla plaids?

I mean my m8 gran coupe is 4400lbs, Demon is 4200lbs, and Plaid is nearly 5k lbs which is truly a heavy sedan.

Now imagine a mono-chassis rhats carbon core based similar to the M8s on the Plaid with Twin Turbo 4.4l V8 S63R and 2 front electric motors.

Now that's fun.

I think its not Dodge who made this decision or even US management but Stellantis group, where Dodge is a tiny brand with zero future growth potential. The fact remains they still need the V8s for the Jeeps and Ram vehicles - just shortsighted to end Dodge models especially since they are still doing well with minimal investment.

Same with the RS7, which is not a wagon. They are just big heavy cars. S63 AMG is 4800lbs. These cars weigh a ton...literally.

I can do 12-second 1/4 mile in my 7800lb. F-250 diesel! ~560 wheel hp and almost 1100 ft./lb. in 4x4 launch. Torque can overcome a lot of weight!

You and I would get along very well!

Fastest diesel I ever had was back in 2012 running a low 10 in a Megacab Cummins.

Not many people will understand the thrill 1500ftlbs + of torque can offer when mixed with high HP.

Bingo! My Cobra's torque curve (line) makes the little 2200lb. car fun in any gear at any RPM.

My non-car enthusiast buddy is obsessed with the E Tron GT and has decided it will be his next car. He drew blanks when I brought up how heavy it is.

People literally don't care, they just a car that will go fast in a straight line even though they never floor it. Handling, steering, etc. don't register in the minds of anyone. I can't recall the last time I saw a Tesla driving fast, they just want the bragging rights.

Even among the car enthusiast community, it is probably a minority of us who even care how much a car weighs. We gravitate toward brands like Porsche, BMW, Alfa Romeo. The people who just want to drive fast boats love Mercs Audis Teslas etc.
