Tire technology has come a long way.
I remember thinking in the mid 90s with the Dunlop SP8000s, that tires can't possibly get better than this! |

Thanks for the update, OP.
On a related note, does anyone have an opinion about the "Noise Reduction Technology" option for the PS4S? They're about $30/tire extra. I'm all about extra noise reduction, but consider it might be gimmicky. Thanks.

You guys definitely drive more aggressively than me, I was literally burning rubber/$$$ all those years wearing PSS when I really didn't need that extra grip. I'm happy w my Indy500s and my wallet is too haha.

Been thinking of switching to using them on non-M cars; like you starting to dislike burning money on tires if not necessary. Though I have to admit I've loved every Michelin tire I've ever owned both summer and winter. |

It has, and then again, hasn't. Evidenced by the fact that the original PSS, which came out in 2011, is still very relevant. Longer lasting, better wet performance while maintaining or exceeding the dry performance, and being quieter has taken a LOT of massive tech to achieve.
I hope the PS5S is exactly like the PS4S just with better front end bite. Oh, and I hope it's made in my sizes. |

The PSS seems to be gone too fast, it's kinda insane how I used them all this time until recently. I'm not too concerned about noise or comfort but I don't notice any real difference for me. The grip has been great dry and wet. Like I said, probably don't push my car as much as many of you guys but for my use, I was just literally burning $$$/rubber using PSS, i.e. both are pretty much the same for me except the PSSs are almost 2x more expensive *and* I needed to change them more often since they wear faster.

You mean you have downgraded to the PS5...from a PSS.

This is how I see Michelin's hierarchy in terms of dry grip excluding their Cup offerings:
PSS5>PS4S>PSS>PS2>PS>PS5>PS4>PS3

I’ve had a few teslas that all have had it. The foam disconnects under severe heat on both my cars. My wife’s car has set a world record for tire mileage; I didn’t need to have her foam removed. What a waste of 3.4 0-60. Back to bottom barrel models she goes lol

Possibly but, I wouldn't run a PS5 on my 600hp 996 Turbo over my current newly supplied PS2 N Rated Porsche OEM tyre. Its like a G80 320 Diesel vs an E46 M3 CS, for example (one is much more modern than the other, but....). PS5 is not a UUHP road tyre, it's a tier below a UUHP tyre, in my opinion from my understanding of the subject. I can however agree that a PS4S would be better than a PSS or PS2 on a very high performance car, in terms of absolute dry grip, if the stock sizes were available.
