x2 ....

I was hating my job today though... landed at 11:00 pm and had a 6:30 am appointment.

Waiting for the sun to go down... almost forgot what it feels like to sleep at night.

It's up to your own individual preferences how you value your time vs. income. This is clearly a rudimentary analysis, as there are many variables involved, but in the end all can theoretically be quantified in terms of income or leisure (IE taking a more enjoyable job, more relevant to your interests, at a lower pay would be a function of reducing income and increasing leisure, though technically all that time is spent working). And because I love graphs so much:

In the end, work is a means to an end, whether that be a hobby, travelling, or more work. Love your job? Great. Hate it? Hope you find one that suits your preferences better...but the fact that you are working it shows you value the income you make at it at the expense of the leisure you are giving up.
I can actually understand that graph because I took Econ 202 last semester.

Nice...how far to they go with indifference curves at the 200 level? The real fun starts with intermediate micro / consumer theory

I'm in the same boat as you. I find music to be my passion and trying to make a career out of it even more than what I've already done. I've been in the entertainment industry for over 13 yrs but still feel like im 1 step behind being where I wanna be.
Good luck to you bro.

I recently quit my job to pursue other options - best decision I've ever made.

Helicopter Pilot?

I hated my old job once we got new management in. It wasn't that great anyway. Just a 3rd Key at a Blockbuster in my town. It wasn't bad for a first job. I quit once new management came marching in (they are real bitches) and started my own online business. I make pretty good money for still being in school and it's alright. I love not having to rely on anyone else or be bossed around, but having to deal with dip shits from time to time really makes me want to just quit.

Work is a necessary evil...

I'm a project executive at a small construction company that specializes in healthcare. I have been in construction for the last 13yrs. Got a degree in Architecture and went to work for a general contractor straight out of school. The work is fast paced and stressful at times. It pays well enough for my wife and I to own a home and live comfortably in SoCal. Do I love it? No. Does that matter to me? No. I have to much invested to switch it up now. I'm lucky enough to wake up every morning and go about my day not hating what I'm doing and thats enough for me. I know plenty of people that flat out hate their jobs but feel trapped by this economy.

Work hours are 9-6 for me..
Lunch breaks are basically however long it takes to eat my meal, because wtf am I gonna do.. twiddle my thumbs?
Some months however have been 9am-2am

I enjoy my job however, and choose to work those hours.
I barely have any dipshits to deal with because I only work with people in my field.

Same to you man. I've got nothing against 9-5's, they run the world we live in and people rely on them. I still fucking hate them. Like I said before, you need to make opportunities for yourself so you don't end up like everyone else living to work, and not working to live.

The secret of success in any career? Work like you don't give a shit. Like a boss. Do you what you have to do when you think you have to do it. This is when work becomes fun.

It's not that you'll be totally slacking and not delivering (in fact, the less you do at work, the more you'll hate it), the real secret to enjoying work is getting things done on your own terms.
