Mine ran great w/the Faxon too. I need to be a better shot with this thing. I almost blamed the barrel till I put my can on it & the bullets magically went where I wanted LOL

I have a TP9sfx, it's a tack driver. Fit and finish is great. Polished feed ramp from the factory. Mine has been very reliable but I've heard of ppl with issues so YMMV.

I've owned many. No issues other than they wouldn't run reliably in stock form with a can

So much for building a lighter AR....

My goal was to be under 6 lbs with optic (PA 5x micro prism w/PA mini reflex red dot).
Without any accessories or optics (But with stock installed) it is 5.7 lbs

PA advertises the 5x & 3x micro prisms as weighin 8 oz. No way in hell.... (Put the optic setup on the scale & 1 lb!) I may as well just go back to an LPVO smh...After I added the optic setup listed above, the Centurion hand stop & rail covers & VTAC 2 pt sling, the weight shot up to 7.1 lbs!!!!

After I added the Surefire SOCOM MINI2 can, we are at 7.9 lbs.....
I know I can shave a few more ounces by going with the MFT stock, PSA BCG, lighter FH & a lighter buffer setup. However, I went with this FH because of the SOCOM MINI2 and the buffer setup because it will be suppressed full time.

Full parts list below.

Ruger stripped lower
B5 Type 23 grip
Geissele ambi safety
Stag LPK
V7 takedown pins, grip screw, ejection port cover & rod & end plate & castle nut
Centurion 14.5" lightweight hammer forged barrel
Magpul enhanced trigger guard
Toolcraft BCG
Warhammer CH
B5 Bravo stock
Centurion rail covers & hand stop
Odin works extended mag release
CMMG Zeroed bolt catch
Larue MBT-2S trigger
2A Armament upper receiver
2A builder series buffer tube
Midwest micro gas block
Centurion gas tube
Strike FA
Geissele Super 42 H2 buffer & spring
Midwest 12.6" Ultralight handguard
Surefire closed tine FH/suppressor adapter

Wonder if just the optic without the mount weighs 8oz?

That's kind of shady to list it without the mount weight.

It would be an awesome project to restore those stocks.

K98k collecting is both extremely expensive and very difficult as the market is riddled with fakes. Finding a period correct, 100% matching and legitimate rifle is a painstaking process. I was lucky to find these two, which I'll never shoot and will likely keep for as long as I can. Even 80 years later, the quality of German craftsmanship is evident all over these rifles.

Top: 1942 byf 42 hh block with a rare walnut stock. Most of these were lost to the Eastern Front, so finding one is a tough ask, even more so in walnut (production had mostly switched to laminate due to cost and durability).
Bottom: 1940 42 code dd block with a red glue laminate stock. This is a duffle cut GI bring back. In order to fit their rifles in their duffle bags, a cut was made on the handguard. This one has been professionally repaired luckily.

Shot my buddy's Canik last year and it was surprisingly a great gun, the trigger was light and smooth.

Aesthetically, I agree. However, that would actually destroy their value (by at least 50%, maybe more) and effectively ruin the rifles from a collectors point of view. The Germans marked every piece of their rifles with Waffenamts (you can see them on mine if you look closely). Refinishing the stocks would likely remove those stamps. With regards to collecting German made K98k's, value increases due to 1. rarity 2. percentage of serial matching components that are also "original" and period correct. Mine are both 100% matching and correct down to the smallest screw, which will have it's own individual marking or serial number. If you're interested in learning more, this is the best resource out there for collecting: https://www.k98kforum.com/

Long story short, the Germans built their rifles with extreme precision and detail. You can see why they couldn't keep up production, especially compared to the U.S. that could make a Garand for a fraction of the cost and time.

I emailed PA & that is what they told me. Shady indeed. Just list total weight or weight of optic & weight of mount.

I have an ADM mount on order as well as a lighter BCG. SHould shave 7 or so oz off. We shall see!

Now I have the itch for another optic & suppressor ready 9mm pistol after picking up a M&P 2.0 4" compact. Don't want any heavy pistols or DA/SA. No manual safety

The time has come to finally go for my grail gun: the HK MP5SD. I'm sending my HK SP5 to Dakota Tactical for the full conversion. Should have it back in 3-4 months!

I have two kids that are always jockeying to be number one! They would go lockstep in their efforts to declare me incompetent. Besides, no one wants to be saddled with a high maintenance geezer like me.
