Looks like a decent shed, at least.

Roofers are coming out next week to replace my roofing shingles and gutters. I asked for an estimate to replace the shingles on the roof of my shed so they'd match the new ones on the house. They quoted me $500 to add that on. I was like, WTF, I only paid $500 for the whole shed!

$500 to put shingles on a small shed? That's like going to the dealership and asking about a new VCG...insane.

Get ready to spend a day in the garage

Totally worth it though. I have a few big ones and they are full of seasonal stuff.

My brother is coming out this week, so I'll have some help. He's an ace with this stuff. And the things I need to put up in them is all lightweight stuff.

I bought this and will keep this or the Ibanez; whichever one works best for my hand and, more importantly, sounds best.

Have you been playing awhile or relatively new? Just wondering, hand size can be overcome with experience. Obviously a smaller neck can help, but on a bass it's more so understanding and flowing with the movement.

I'm a newbie. Been seriously playing almost a year at church. I haven't really ventured to more complex music and never really learned music theory. I played clarinet in high school, but that was over 45 years ago (I was pretty good back then; 1st chair!) and I can't read music anymore. The church music is just notes over the song lyrics.

I got ya, that is what I figured. My advice would be to just cycle through scales until you feel comfortable - up and down the fret board. Your fingers don't need to stretch all the way to the correct position without moving your hand - hand movement is fine as long as you can get to the next note in time.

Goodluck!

Picked up the Gretsch today. So far I really like it. MUCH easier for me to play. I'll still compare it to the Ibanez, but the Gretsch is presently in the lead.
