I've always heard "real" asian rice is made sticky so you can more easily eat it with chopstick. Don't know if it's true, but sticky rice is fucking disgusting so the hell with that.

depends dreamer - japanese rice is sticky.
chinese and jasmine rice is loose. thai sticky rice is clumpy. brown rice is more loose. butter is god! this is what i ate before going to Nicaragua ![]()

ok, so one of my vendors took me out to this place called Trulucks...
he also took my wife out since she works right down the road... appetizer was calamari and crab cakes... main course was an 8oz center cut filet (medium rare) with lump crab/shrimp sauce and a side of mashed potatoes... desert was a massive 3 layered carrot cake with candied pecans and caramel sauce, but my wife took it home so we could eat it for dinner HAHAHA !!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

You make reservations and you tell the chef what you like and he'll (allegedly) prepare a 5 course tasting menu specially designed for you and your significant other. I have not dined at the new location myself for three main reasons: 1) It's extremely expensive. $125/person and an additional $125/person if you want wine pairings. $600 or $700 after taxes and tip for two (with wine). That's comfortably in 3 Michelin star category. 2) The chef is not classically trained. I'm a bit snobbish when it comes to pedigree. I don't mind paying $300+/person for a meal once in a blue moon but I expect the chef's resume to reflect that price point. This guy is self-taught. 3) Jezebel had a sister restaurant 'Bar Mirabeau' which was absolutely, god awful horrendous. I just checked and apparently they closed down Bar Mirabeau, presumably due to poor performance. It looks like they've opened up a new concept, 'tapasitas,' which I haven't tried yet. However, all that being said, I'm throwing it out there as an option. Remember: for $135 you have a summer tasting menu with wine at Congress. I went there a few months ago with my parents and although pricey after it's all said and done, an absolutely impeccable dinner with stellar service. |

I do love Brussel sprouts. They are excellent at Uchi/Uchiko, but also at 11 Plates right by your house. My wife has figured out how to make them at home now though, so I get to enjoy them quite frequently.
