GPS on the v1 and I think escort ones reads the exact frequency if the signal to be locked, so if there's a second signal, even the same band, it will still show and set off the detector.

Everyone's all over the R3 now. I can see why. I am considering it for my next purchase. I just don't like that they don't appear to have a hardwire kit for it.

I used to have a Escort 8500 x50 back in my speeding days and it was awesome. Saved my ass on multiple occasions. It would even alert me if people in front of me were getting hit by laser. I had it hard wired and sold it as a bonus with my wrecked Sti.

R3-1 hardwire.

There is talk of uniden working on a R-3 (1) with the addition of arrows. Also working on a mrct (d) detectable unit - the photo radar in Canada and in New York

Picked up an R3 a couple of months ago and finally got around to hardwiring it. Used this and a wire tap to install and it works like a charm.

WOW... I would have NEVER considered Uniden to even be in the same conversation as BEL/ESCORT and Valentine. But apparently, this unit is kicking ass and taking names!
I shall have one very soon...

I've been doing my research and everyone says it's ALP. I'm pretty close to buying a set myself.

I peruse rdforum and I'm subscribed to vortex radar on youtube. I didn't see anything on vortex's channel. Care to share a link?

I looked on vertex a few hours ago and couldn't find what I thought I read/saw.
When I have some time later I'll look again - I don't think it was in one of his 30minute Q$A posts but Ill check.

It may have been a new wireless laser grill unit bluetoothed to a new Escort, but there was also something about front and rear mount laser horns - I'll let you know and if vortex is back from being on the road we can probably e-mail him.

I think (need to chk because I just vaguely recall ) Redenso has two new set ups utilizing the Anti Laser Priority heads.

These things are new and I was waiting for VR to run test.

I apologize for fouling you up, but wanted u to have the latest info before you buy.

I have the V1 in my weekend car because it’s the one I’m most likely to get in trouble with but drive the least so don’t mind the chirps

For our family hauler, I have a Uniden DFR7. It’s a good entry level radar that won’t break the bank but gets the job done.

In my commuter I use a Passport Max2. Good for auto lockout but honestly feel the range isn’t as good as I hoped

Really? I have a Max and bought my son a V1 for a present. Ran both on my dash for a week and the Passport always went off first. Now both were giving plenty of warning so the difference was unimportant. Certainly not a scientific test in any regard.

Thumbs up

Apparently, riding on the wave of success of the R1 and R3, Uniden is releasing 2 budget but high performing models anytime now: DFR8 and GPS enabled DFR9, which I think I'm gonna grab. I am used to having a detector with Ambient Light Sensor (the R1 and R3 don't) which these 2 below will have.

I have an R3 and am stoked for the upcoming MRCD update as I do live near a region with MRCD threats.

I don't have it hardwired as I like using the included cigarette adapter and the idea that it is easy to remove. It's mounted low in the car (ideal performance is up high) but im willing to sacrifice a small bit of performance to have it in an area that allows me to see the display easily, and not block the windshield.

The R3 uses gps time and in the settings, you can set the time it auto dims.

Finally snagged this new R3 for $340 using a promo code (now over) verified it had the latest Firmware and hardwired it in! Man this thing has tons of user customizing.
